I did the 400 watt anytime yesterday. I figured it was going to be easy peasy considering it's just two wires. Well I found a way to make it difficult. So I followed the instructions and go to test it, turn the key and nothing it won't turn over. WTF! So I try putting it all back together and nothing. After a while I traced it to the starter fuse. Never would have thought the inverter was hooked to the starter fuse but whatever, unless STA isn't the starter?

I've been doing some things to the truck and then the storm hit so I haven't been able to actually work so I've made some progress.

First I installed a Cobra 75wx st CB with a 3' wilson flex and ant. mount I made. It's so much better than the handheld I had been using.

    DSC_5885_e4e7563b8ffced8135254f4dbac9f4c40126d99e.jpg

Then I moved onto reinforcing the skids and rebuilding the cross member. I used some 2x2x.120 square tubing to do the task. Kind of hard to tell from the pics but you get the idea.

    DSC_5895_bfc2052a6264d86d4bb8276b24789b45b850f1b4.jpg

As some of you know the old cross member was bent pretty significantly as was the part of the skid under the t-case although it never touched it. I found another use for the mower and ran over the tubing on top of the skid and tacked it down to flatten it back out, worked like a charm.

Then I installed a pair of Hella Rallye 4000 lights on the bumper. I used the fj aux switch and followed barlowrs diagram. I have a ddm 55watt hid kit on order that I'll put in whenever it gets here.

Not really part of my truck build per se but it's part of the build of my toy collection.

Now that I'm commuting about 60 miles a day I wanted something more efficient, fun, and reliable. I've always been a fan of a simple sports car so I started the research with the criteria of cheap parts, cheap initial cost, great handling, and as simple as possible. This lead me to this.

What's nice about this particular one is the gentleman that owned it previously put a lot of tasteful mods into it.

    Suspension:
    15 X 7 Chaparral aluminum wheels with 195/50 15 Yokohama tires.
MazdaSpeed Miata Bilstein shock absorbers, springs and sway bars.
2005 Miata ladder brace and front shock tower brace, both powder coated.
    Negative camber alignment.

    Drivetrain:
2001 Miata exhaust manifold (factory header)
K&N air cleaner in the factory airbox, with a 2002 crossover tube.
Red wrinkle powder coated valve cover
    Racing Beat stainless rear muffler/tailpipe.
Mazdaspeed Miata Torsen limited slip rear end and axles, 4.10 ratio

    Interior:
Seats and console from a 2005 Miata.
Hard Dog M2 Sport Roll Bar with padding and vinyl cover
Steering wheel and hand brake lever from MazdaSpeed Miata, have leather covers with red stitching
Factory AM/FM/CD radio with iPod mount/connector, just drop your iPod in the cradle and it's connected.
Power keyless remote for door locks and a power trunk button
Foot well lights so you can actually see when you enter and exit the car at night.
Automatic dimming rear view mirror with outside temperature and compass readout.

    Exterior:
Robbins top with a heated glass rear window.
Rear taillights are from a 2002 Miata

He also replaced some of the aging parts like hoses and such. So far it's more than filled the criteria and holy cow is this thing sweet around corners.
