I'm pretty sure he has a reason too. It's why I asked the question

What he said. Swing out is because the tailgate will have a fold down table for more cooktop/prep surface area. And for undisclosed other reasons :spy:

Tis for a reason, but not strength. I had to add a little cutoff as you see to clear the fenders. I wanted the door as wide as possible and the two choices I had was to either nip one corner off, or add another vertical support and lose the entire real estate. When I test fitted my large rubbermaid container...that was the determining factor of clipping vs squaring the whole thing off. If you look closely you can actually see the holes drilled to mount the fenders.

I never posted this picture...cause it's kinda crappy. But here's the fenders mounted. They are pretty damn solid.

Love that your wife lends a hand.

I like her zip tie hair band too!

Trailer looks great! Design, function and fab work are excellent.

Are you mounting a swing out kitchen on the rear door?

Looking forward to the finished product.

    Yes it is ;)

Correct. I went back and forth on this a lot. Like nightmares about it. Discussed at length with the wife about it too. The general consensus was with having the two large doors up front and tailgate...it was just extra work and weight I didn't want to do. The only large/obtuse item that would be annoying to put in/out of the trailer is out camp table and I made the RTT crossmembers high and wide enough such that the table slides right between them.

    Great first post. :D

Impressive you caught the zip tie! We made do with what was handy.
Keeping some of the details to myself till I have it put together and all the details hashed out. I've changed the design a lot on this build.

I actually like the idea of no lid. That way you don't have to rely on it to get stuff out..when the RTT is open for instance..haha

I think the no lid approach is fine. Your box is deeper than mine :cookiemonster: so the taller tailgate and side doors on the front will probably work great.

The other added benefit of the solid top is there is less concern about weather. Even with a lid you can still get water leaking in if your not careful.

Only drawback is a finite amount of space. There are times I pack stuff higher in my trailer because its open and there's room. Not necessary too often but at least there is the option.

Exactly some of the key points I was sleepless about.
The other major difference here between your design needs and mine is...well...you have twice the number of kids I have. Of course you need all the infinite space you can get! :D

Shower setup is virtually done. I'll post pix once the tent is on.
As for the toilet....bumper dumper FTW:
