So I was holding out for a truck with JBL but one will not be availble for some time. I can get into a non-jbl TDR OR with everything else I want much sooner.

If I want to add an amp to the stock head at a later time, how big of a deal will that be?

probably not that bad. probably just like any other subwoofer install. Can't see it being anything overly difficult.

if you need to know where to look you likely do not have it.

it would be behind the seat in the back.
you'd be able to hear it if you had it.

So only the JBL audio optioned will have the red JBL logo on the headunit?
Are the Amp(s) and subwoofer(s) located in the back seat?
    Anyone has specs on these?

It says TACOMA in the heading but then Tundra in description.
In anycase looksnlike its an 8" sub! I used to have 10"-12" subs back in the days But 8" sub should be fine these days

I love me my JBL, taken a few people for a drive and all have said it sounds amazing. Deep bass, and crisp sound. I haven't heard the stock, non JBL system who knows it could be just as good.

6x9s in the front doors, 6 1/2s in the rear doors. Same exact oem speakers as a 2015, literally. I replaced the speakers in my 15, then put oem back in it when traded. Took apart the '16, same damn crappy speakers. I went through Crutchfield so that I got the adapters with the new speakers. First is oem, second is JBL GX series 6x9.20151220_140458.jpg 20151220_140801.jpg

Are you saying that the JBL pkg has poor speakers?

Mine is not a JBL. My aftermarket speakers are JBL. The aftermarket JBL's are much better quality than the Toyota JBL speakers used. I wouldn't give them a poor rating, but any decent aftermarket speaker with some power put to it should sound better.

Anyone have a rattle sound from their driver side window controls when at 30+ volume with the JBLs?

don't forget, the JBL comes with the Sub...but also the 440 watt amp next to it, all in one compartment. The amp drives all 7 speakers and has been precision tuned among all speakers by sound engineers. see this link: http://www.jbl.com/content?ContentID=toyota-tacoma-us

personally, I'm soooo glad I paid for the JBL system. My 2013 taco ran into problem when I let "professionals" add subs, speakers, amps, ects.....they just didn't gel together. I was disappointed. But this JBL system is tuned to work in harmony with all the parts...awesome!
