Really? Can I....can I? My mother-in-law has a 12 year old Grand Cherokee that's costing us a fortune in repairs right now. It's 12 years old (82K miles), so I guess.....that's OK - for a Jeep. So - we're getting ready to SELL IT before something major goes wrong with it.

But honestly, I LOVE Jeeps (Wranglers) for offroading. I've owned 2 of them and I never had a problem with them that wasn't offroad road related or caused by me....

In terms of daily drivers....there are some vehicle brands that I'd never own past their bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Everybody and their mother knows that Grand Cherokees are flat out terrible vehicles. They have too many electronics and a crappy Chrysler tranny that makes it a TERRIBLE vehicle to own. Cherokees and Wranglers is where is at. I've owned two XJ's that went into the 160K miles range before sold or totaled :(

I didn't think I would ever say I would drive a jeep...but I would rock that thing no problem, that thing is awesome.

Also all of this jeep vs truck debate is sort of silly and going nowhere. I would like to see an independant vehicle reviewer take a jeep and a taco, bone stock straight from the factory with equal options, and do a comparrison and off road test. That would be cool.

Yes it would! I guess somebody has to do the hard part. Since my forum name is "The Driver", for once I'll take one for the team. I'll need some money and a date as to when I need to be in Moab... :D

Sure looks like a pretty long wheel base - Seems like that would get you into trouble.

So a couple things that I haven't noticed in this thread.

This is from AEV, they dress up Jeeps with expensive parts and call it a day. They make the Brute kit for TJ's too. AEV swag will never find it's way onto my Jeep, overpriced and not useful.

They will NEVER be made for production from the Jeep assembly line.

I drive a 2003 TJ Rubicon and a Tacoma. My TJ has had the bushing replaced on the control arms because of mnfr defects (5.5" RE LA kit). An idler pulley broke (no idea how that happened). Other than that, it's in tip-top shape.

That depends...bone stock X v. bone stock Tacoma? 2 or 4dr Jeep, 2 or 4dr Taco with regular or long bed? SCRB?

A stock Rubicon would spank any stock Tacoma. There's a lot of options to compare.

They sell shit-loads of them....so no, everyone & their mothers don't know.

As long as you're (people in general) are happy with what you own....so be it. If you're (people in general) not happy with what you own, then get rid of it and stop your bitchin. For everyone else (people in general) stop trying to convince the world that your favorite vehicle/s is the best cuz ....we don't care!!

    hahahha.....sorry, had to.

you would see a trd offroad taco vs a rubicon. That would not bode well for the taco. That being said, you can't really tow anything with a jeep because they're too short and light. You want to do truck things, get a truck. You want to do jeep things, get a jeep. If you want to do either or, prepare for some money leaving your pockets

Yes they sold of a lot of them. And from the very beginning most people didn't care about doing their legwork before buying (Consumers Digest and Jeep forums, among others are filled with GC horror stories). This isn't something new either, as GC have been bad for years. It wasn't until the WK's came out that quality got better.

Aside from all the reliability bashing.....
The Grand Cherokee's are loaded with all the bells & whistles. The 4WD Quadradrive system is frigin awesome. The seats are like sitting on a cloud and the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven.... We owned the Grand Cherokee (same one my mother-in-law owns) for 5 years and the only things that went wrong with it while we owned it....was a speed sensor and the warping brake rotors. The thing towed our built Jeep YJ (6500lb w/ trailer) to Tellico from PA on two separate years without any problems.

So honestly.....I can't complain much about it while we had it. Since its 12 years old - problems are 'to be expected'. And within the last 2 years, we've done soooo many repairs to it.

Yeah, Toyota is always been reliable..... but I think they're starting to slip a bit. They're not the same Toyota of yester-years.

Those are awesome....but its a conversion kit and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Besides - there's no way in hell that thing will tow/haul nearly as much as a Tacoma. So, what's the point?

Save your money. Buy a tacoma for towing/hauling/daily driving and buy yourself an older YJ or TJ and build it to kick that Brute's ass on the trails!

I think it looks tight. I hope they make a production one. I have always wanted an old scrambler. My family has had like 3 cherokees with little problem. My brother's had 285k on it before a tree landed on it (and it still ran).

I thought it was a production thing at first, but after reading its "custom" I can kinda see why its so much, but why? It looks kinda cool, but very cramped in the cab for me( Im 6'5").
