Maybe the Dodge Dakota version of this truck will have a Hemi Option.

Sounds like some of you believe this thing will be the end of the Tacoma. Toyota might as well go ahead and shut down production now before their stock takes a hit.

Ok, sure the Gladiator will get some of the potential Tacoma buyers, just like the Ford Ranger will, but I don't see the Gladiator stealing much of the market from Toyota and will probably just pull in more of the potential Ranger and Colorado buyers but will see.

I'd like to see the 6.4 in any vehicle lighter than my Challenger.

Unless my eyes deceive me, Jeep's fancy offroad truck couldn't clear humps a ridgeline would. Is this true? How is the offroadiest car brand ok with this????

    For comparison:
    Ridgeline: 22 deg
    TRDOR: 24 deg
    TRDPRO: 26 Deg
    TRDPRO W/ 33s: 28 deg

Prepare to see lots of gladiators beaching themselves like whales?

Don't forget that they designed that platform to work with 35's without a lift, and 37's with a small lift. The real issue is the long wheelbase. Still, if you're willing to put up with Jeep reliability and quality it's going to make a pretty epic platform for overland travel with a camper on the back and the diesel engine. They're going to sell a metric shit ton of these.

oh I 100% agree they'll sell them. and I have to say they look epic, I was just a little shocked to see how bad that breakover angle was. its so bad you'd NEED 37s just to get the same breakover angle as an unmodified tacoma/colorado

Wonder how a Long bed Tacoma compares as they look to be similar in size and wheelbase.

Interesting to note the wheelbase is 137.3 inches on the gladiator. 3rd gen DCSB is 127.4, 140.6 on the DCLB. That's quite the wheelbase on the gladiator.

    Weirdly, it doesn't say:

    upload_2018-11-29_12-59-36.jpg

I'm guessing the 4x2 breakover is somehow accounting for the T case skid not being there but I don't understand why it would be less than a 4x4?

I guess with the long wheelbase we won’t be seeing videos of them doing backflips.

The Rubicon trim level has much better stats. This vehicle is packed with capability and good ideas. I have no faith in Chrysler reliability so I wouldn't buy it but I suspect they will be quite popular.

I personally think it looks hideous but maybe not as ugly as the Ridgeline.

That's the thing, the Taco and CO were competing with the Wrangler for rock crawling ability, the Gladiator doesn't have to worry about that because no one is going to buy it for that purpose as they'll buy a Wrangler. They built a truck, and it's more truck than either the Taco or the CO. Highest payload, highest towing, biggest backseat in the mid size class, plus it's a freakin convertible. Well played if ya ask me.

I doubt it. People forget that Jeeps aren't cheap. A loaded JLU Rubicon is almost 60k. The Gladiator is going to be at least a few grand more than the JLU.

Even the base barebones JLU is 33k. My coworker got a loaded JLU Sarah for 50k.

They couldn't find a better name than Gladiator? A 2-door, 3.0 diesel with 6MT would be a cool setup. I'll definitely go test-drive one.

They used a name from Jeeps past. Better then calling it the Scrambler. Which is what people were expecting it to be called.
