Been following this thread,I like it. Really like the Rubicon version. Like the manual with the transfer case shifter. Rig would be awesome with a SnugTop shell on the bed with RTT. I can’t afford one so reliably is not a concern. They will sell a lot of them.

I agree. For the first year or two there'll be a waiting list.
I'm a longtime Jeep fan (the older stuff) but I wouldn't go anywhere near a Chrysler/Dodge/Fiat product.
Been burned by both a Plymouth minivan and a Dodge Dakota.
Two co workers can't get away from their POS Wrangler Unlimiteds fast enough.

The Jeep Gladiator looks pretty nice, too bad its made by Chrysler and not AMC. I would take it as a second vehicle, never dumping my Tacoma.

The Wrangler is a niche vehicle, a pickup truck is the exact opposite.

It's a Fiat, don't forget. I had a 73 CJ-5 that I bought new for $3500.00, and it was a great vehicle. I've only owned Toyota pick-ups since I sold the Jeep in 1989. I'd never go back.

If I had to choose, I definitely would try this Jeep Gladiator over any Ram or Chevy out there. Not giving up my Tacoma like others on here. The Ford F series is a whole different league excluding the F150 don’t care for them. The rest are work horses for a work truck.

Wrangler truck that will start in the 40's, was going to wait for the new Ranger or this Jeep but with all of the issues FIAT is having with Chrysler products I will take a hard pass on those. As for the Ford I will wait a couple to see if they 1. get the bugs worked out and 2. put at least a V6 in the truck.

I have not seen any JL buybacks, they are buggy but easily fixed by replacing the radio that is the brain of the damn thing.

Resale it what sells them, we have customers buy them drive them 1-2 years and then trade them for very little (compared to many vehicles) if you look at registrations we are not getting "new" customers just the same ones recycling them down the line.

I just came out of a 16 F-150 lease and purchased the Tacoma because of size.

The new F-150 was more truck than any of my prior F-150's, Rams or Silverado's... Just not able to pull the trigger on the Tundra with the weird looking hood grille setup. Looks like it has a very high forehead.

Ford is being very careful not to steal away and sales from their bread and butter the F150.

That is why they should have resurrected the F-100 Ranger series from the 70's to keep the F series dominance in the market.

BTW it is the F-Series not just F-150's Light Duty trucks are 1/2 ton through 1 ton

IMO, can't compare the Rubicon trim to lesser trims from the competition. Stock JT is 10.0" ground clearance, doesn't have the stronger Dana axles, doesn't have swaybar disconnects, doesn't have 2.5" Fox shocks, doesn't have Rubicon front and rear lockers.

Some of that can be aftermarketed instead of paying the Rubicon premium, I guess the big deal as many have said is what is the lowest buyin price?
