Personally I’m somewhat curious about what the Tesla pickup is going to look like, and its capacities.

Not the same as gladiator but I know last year when I was looking to buy a JLU rubicon I easily could get to 10-15% off msrp without much negotiating. I know you can order pretty close to or at invoice pricing too, plus Jeep has a bunch of partner programs you can get discounted pricing through like Tread Lightly.

Promo vehicle? The gladiator forums seem to have a few quotes from Jeep stating a delay. I could be wrong, its just what I read.

Me too. I doubt I’d ever buy it over the Tacoma (plus, no stick) but it’ll be cool to see where they push the market.

Bet they’ll be expensive too, either to insure or repair or both

I have no idea, lol. Just remember seeing this review, like you said probably a few demo vehicles running around.

Lot of ifs on my end.
    If my salary doubles.
If its 4x4 is under 50k
If its offroad suspension can rival a boss lift

    Then I will consider

Well with a 2" lift from Mopar that costs the less than the boss lift you can run 37s or even 40s on the Rubicon. I cant see a Taco with any <2k lift following with a Gladiator on 37s or 40s.

I was curious about all the specs on this thing and started poking around looking into them. Yeah no!!! It's WB is 137" almost as long as my DCLB but without the utility. There are some other quirks with the rear suspension too. But Evo is all over it with developing some good stuff for it just don't see it being any more capable than a really well built Tacoma especially at that WB. I mean Jeep what were you thinking 5 ft. bed ok a marginally larger pass. compartment and a LWB than any of the other DC/crew cab short bed trucks on the market.

If I was interested in a new truck and could get invoice pricing I would look at a Gladiator Rubicon. I'd order a base Rubicon if I could get invoice price, add the $250 tow pkg and maybe the $1195 Freedom hardtop, seems like a really good price point for all the offroad goodies you get standard and topgrade amenities.

The lesser trims seem overpriced for what you get standard, Rubicon no, that's a badass truck for the base price.

Yeah, the long wheel base and therefore a poor breakover angle is a major problem, also has a 44' turning circle.

Thing is, though, I've looked at Toyota's specs, they claim the DCLB has the same breakover angle as the DCSB, that's bullshit, no way a longer wheelbase has the same breakover angle.

There's no way you can build a Tacoma to match the Gladiator Rubicon for the price. Base Rubicon is $43k with front and rear lockers, solid front axle, front swaybar disconnect, full skid plates, 220A alternator, Fox shocks, crawl control, plenty of amenities, 400W inverter.

Rubicon is the trim I would be interested in buying, there's a lot of bang for the buck, it would smoke a TRD Pro offroading and not much more expensive.

If you start adding the optional front radar, 8-spd autotrans, radar cruise control, all that shit the price jumps. But at least it's optional for those that don't don't want all that crap.

If I was interested in a new truck I'd absolutely look at the Gladiator Rubicon, probably great resale value also.

Its like anything else are you really going to leave it the way you bought it . At 65 years old every one that knows me laughs like hell when I say I am going to leave it stock about any vehicle I have ever owned. I would bet lifted and some good size tires those approach and departure angle thoughts will be way in the past and never worth mentioning to the true Jeep person . I only wish they made them a few years ago so I could pick one up and dump my rickshaw in a heart beat

Depends on if you want new or can deal with buying used and building a rig. Still less utility with that shirt bed. They also have worse departure angle the rear sticks past the rear wheels further than other trucks. It's gonna be a lot easier to get flex and big tires on this thing that's for sure. Jeeps always have good resale.

That’s funny. I just started a thread with that pic over on the Jeep site to ask about it and they deleted the entire thread almost immediately. WTF? Maybe they don’t want the peeps in the know for some reason?

Whatever, not my problem anyway, I drive a taco... :D
