The Wrangler looks better, but the Gladiator looks pretty cool. It is certainly unique and in a class of its own.

They made the perfect vehicle for those wanting a jeep, but the versatility and towing of a truck.

My question is what will the long-term reliability be like?

Solid front axle available as an option (EDIT: standard), diesel option (but no option to get a manual + diesel), good capacity, stupid easy to lift and clear 35s, factory steel bumpers that should be winch-compatible, etc. I'd never buy a jeep because FCA and I like running trucks but hopefully toyota takes some notes from this. I understand the appeal of roof + doors off, jeeps are a lot of fun. I think they'll sell the hell out of these, at least while gas is cheap.

This looks like a nice truck and would even be better with a 6.2L Hellcat engine !!! , maybe even the new 7.0L Hellephant motor

Since when have Jeeps ever been about practicality? It's a fun off-roading vehicle made even more fun when you take the doors and top off.

Hell, it'd be fun with the 6.4 Scat motor.

Solid front axle isn’t an option. It’s standard

I'm currently looking at the JLU Rubicons around $45k. I wonder if I should hold off?
Hope pricing is in that range.

    same shit as everyone else
It looks like they could have made a full size set of rear doors so that the passengers in the back wouldn't have to deal with split windows, but no. FCA must keep costs down and use Wrangler doors on their $40K+ truck.

There’s a lot of hate in this thread, but if there’s anything good coming from the Gladiator it’s the competition. With the Ranger and Gladiator, Toyota will at least have to open their eyes even if they don’t get out of bed.

    A lot of people will.
The Gladiator is going to make the TRD Pro a tougher sell.

My 88 Jeep YJ that I bought new went 4 years with no problems, not one problem that required warranty.
I think its an exciting time for mid size trucks, lots going on. My Tacoma is awesome but I like seeing all the development with other brands.

If I could trust the durability of it I would get one in a heartbeat. Sometimes people bash Jeep just because they’re Jeep. I would much much rather have the choice of a cab chassis 70 series but that’s not possible here.

So, I for one hope they sell the everlasting hell out of these and absolutely take Toyota to the cleaners in terms of sales.

What’s more motivating to bring a 70 series here (Toyota’s Jeep)?
