I disagree with Roman calling the Jeep a “Swiss Army Knife”. That’s a better description of the Tacoma. In a Tacoma, you can go on a road trip down the highway, then hit the trails and DD.

The Jeep does a lot of things very well, and is great off road, but the fact it cannot be driven on the highway, or long distances, is like a Swiss Army Knife with a blade missing.

The thing about 5-lugs is they will get stuck in a mud puddle if you don't know what you're doing...

Snow chains turned my truck into a snowmobile last winter, but I found out the hard way at the Carlisle Fairgrounds that wet grass on a steep is my truck's worst enemy!

I never considered that they are probably high. It is Colorado. Maybe that’s why Andre always calls them Tayoder Tacomer.......cause he just bombed a huge dube.

From now on I will watch with that in mind.

theres a few videos in the snow where they have to be. No freakin way youd be out there testing these stupid trucks you've tested countless of times and its freezing cold you're in and out and wet and be laughing about any of this.

    youd be miserable.

anyways their videos give me a good laugh most of the time.

Resale on these trucks is great up to a point, if you have a lot of miles your not going to be getting 75 percent of your purchase price. I have 214k kms on my truck, paid 40k for it including tax and fees.
I would be looking at 22k to 24k for a resale value.

My dad bought a 2002 BMW 325i convertible in 2006, not long after I'd gotten my permit. He never let me drive the 2003 Honda S2000 the BMW replaced because he thought it was too much car for a 16-year old, but he no problem letting me drive the Bimmer!

That Bimmer was awesome; In an addition to be fun to drive, it had...

    • One of the best A/C systems I'd ever experienced!
    • The Factory Harman-Kardon stereo system that absolutely kicked ass!

Interesting to see the 911 up so high. I wouldn't have figured that an expensive German sports car would hold its value so well.

I have always thought that too, Tacoma's don't do any one thing really well but do a good job at many different things, extremely versatile vehicles.

about 15 years ago I got a BMW 750il off craiglist for $500, when new it was a $90,000 car, but over 10 years it lost 99% of its value because its too expensive to fix.

Luxury cars loose value fast because they are too much to fix.

The 911 is one of the rare exceptions. My dad's 2002 BMW 325i had an MSRP over well over forty grand when new. His older brother bought it new (didn't pay sticker) and they were going to trade the BMW for an Infinti FX35 in 2006. The BMW was worth about $31K in 2006, and the Infiniti dealer had offered them like $25K for it on a trade. My dad really wanted a BMW, so my uncle sold it to my dad for what the Infiniti dealer had offered him. My uncle lives in Florida, and my dad flew down to Florida and drove the car back up to PA. My dad traded the BMW for a new Acura TL in 2008, and the Acura dealer only gave him like $14K if I remember correctly. The BMW had been in a very minor accident (other driver's fault), but it also only had like 50K miles. Nowadays, KBB value on the exact car my dad had even in perfect condition with low miles is like $6,000-$8,000. By comparison, my 2010 base model RC Taco with almost 107K miles is worth a bit more!

My dad's BMW convertible had every available option except the cold weather package (heat seats) and a limited-slip differential; It was purchased new in South Florida and spent the first four years of its life there, so this isn't that surprising. It had the highly desirable black paint and beige/tan leather, automatic transmission, sport suspension package, and Harman-Kardon stereo. One other option it did not have, in addition to heated seats and a limited-slip diff, was navigation. Other than that, it was pretty well loaded.

And there are very few "happy mediums" when it comes to the typical European luxury car buyer...

Most people I talk to who got an Audi, BMW, or Benz new either leased the vehicle for three years and gave it back, or paid cash and put a ton of miles it. Just the other day, I was talking to a guy at a gas station who had a 2017 Mercedes SUV (one of the smaller ones) that he'd paid cash for and had about 48K miles on.

If the European luxury brands didn’t offer leases sales would nosedive. Owning one after the factory warranty expires is an expensive ownership experience.

There are some exceptions with BMW though. Special edition models go down, then go back up in value.

I have a 1991 BMW mtechnic convertible, its 1 of 18 in the world. in 2007 I paid $9k for it, new it was $34k, its now worth around $27k because its the desirable e30 chassis, and has the special bodykit and interior.
