What is it supposed to do that's better than the stock MAF?

Thanks, I read that. I was just curious as to exactly how it is able to do that. Apparently there is no other information.

However, I did find this ad just now:

Jet Performance 69148 Powr-Flo Mass Air Sensor

Important Note: Cannot be used with oil based air filters or intake kits with oil based filters
The JET Powr-Flo Mass Air Sensor delivers improved horsepower, torque and mileage from your car, truck or SUV by simply replacing the restrictive stock mass air sensor. The factory sensor not only is a major restrictive point in stock intake systems, but it also limits the full potential of aftermarket cold air intake systems. The flow bench tested design of the JET Mass Air Sensor provides airflow increases of up to 45% and installs in 10 minutes or less. Compatible with other aftermarket upgrades such as computer upgrades, cold air intakes, TBI spacers, free flow exhaust systems, etc.

So this is both the MAF and Throttle body?

Less restrictive = more air flow and more air = more fuel and more power in theory

No, that's just the MAF, and it isn't the Jet model that fits your truck. I couldn't find an exact pic. Your throttle body looks similar to this...

so all this maf does is increase airflow? i wonder if it does any calibration or tuning like the maf calibrator. because i know andy granatelli make a maf with cold air tuning for chevys and it actually adds a good amount of hp http://www.sportcompactonly.com/part_p-95562.htm

The stock computer has maps inside that are for air, fuel, and spark. If you change just one part of the balance, like adding more air with no increase in fuel to compensate for the additional air, you will lean your air/fuel mixture and make less power and increase engine temps. If you add more fuel without adding more air, you will have a rich mixture and you will make less power and wash away your oil on your cylinder walls. If you add more spark advance without adding fuel or air you will lean out your mixture and wear out your engine prematurely.
The stock computer for the engine is a simple device with complex computations inside it. The factory spent a long period of time trying to make the computer work in all environments. A lot of information is fixed inside the computer and it reacts to the information the sensors provide. When you go beyond the stock computer's ability to make power and economy and environmentally clean conditions, you will get service codes and poor performance.
You start down a long road when you make adjustments to you stock Taco. When you add big tires to your truck, you then have to lift the truck, then you have to make suspension improvements and so forth till it is right for you. When you start trying to make more power on your engine, the same long road of doing one thing that leads to another thing will begin. Good Luck.

Sorry but i know the way the ECU is operating on this truck and if, for example, you're adding air via a less restrictive CAI the ECU (in close loop and even in open loop) will compensate the fuel injected to maintain the AFR. The worst that can happen is an important LT fuel trim.

Even if you're not modifying the system, the ECU is adjusting the fuel injection for internal wear, clogged air filter, old spark plug, elevation, etc...

Yeah if the modifications are too extreme you can reach the limit of some componments like injector or fuel pump but in this post we are not there.
