Agreed unless you like it loud. Most of us have gone quieter over time.

You know the deal. You first get a system on and it's bitchen and sounds awesome. A few long road trips later and you start wanting quieter.
That's how the keg muffler appeared.

Yah I hear you. It's been ages since I was loud on my exhaust setups. Figure I can give it ago since I already have it and @12TRDTacoma has sworn by the Blackwidow and doesn't seem to bad. Add a secondary or resonator to keep it minimal.

That's my dilemma. I want to open it up to maximize the supercharger but like a sleeper exhaust. It seems like the manifold and y-pipe are the largest restriction points but anything you do with them means you add restrictions of some sort further down the exhaust.

Hey dude, if you are in Oakland at some point or want to meet me in Alameda some time I'd be happy to show you how the truck actually sounds in person (it's just right, not too loud, and not too quiet). I also have no need for a resonator with this setup, as there is also no drone, and it's not overbearingly loud either.

@stickyTaco this is what mine currently sounds like. I love it and have no intention on ever changing the setup.

Sorry for the quick thread jack John.

Perfect! We can hit the base real quick since there is a lot of wide open space there and I can open it up for you so you can hear it. If time permits and such you can even give it a quick spin yourself to see how it sounds.

    I'll be there Saturday myself.

I agree with the comments above, i started out with very loud aFe sidepipes and then got a more restrictive TRD catback and added a muffler to that, which i swap on for road trips. Why not have your cake and eat it too?

The most important items of the exhaust stops at the y collector. That is where the magic happens.
After that the rest is just trying to quiet it down with the least restriction which is why the keg muffler works well. It was designed for a 400hp v8 and is 3" throughout.

@DocME had a Magnaflow chambered muffler on for awhile he really liked and said it's very similar sound/tone wise with the keg so I would try that route if I did mine again.

Keg muffler is an oem dodge hemi truck muffler. I dont know the part# but I had gotten a bunch of them as takeoffs from a local muffler shop.
I guess alot of the new trucks the dealership takes over to the muffler shop to make them louder.
    You know Texas and trucks!

Price would be stupid expensive I would think.

This y pipe with a 3in blown out banks muffler honestly was the best sounding 1gr w/o a turbo imo. Only reason Im looking at another resonator is for the drone at around 75-85.

I love mine (same setup w/ shortie headers). I do agree though it gets pretty tiring on those long drives at those rpms. I just turn the radio up now :burnrubber:

He's not making them anymore except the people already on the wait list. But if he starts again you'd better get in line :fistbump:

I have a keg muffler that’s been sitting in my garage. If someone wants to pay shipping it’s yours.
