    I’m going to try this, provided I can make it all fit.

    JFR (w/cats) -> flex pipe -> 12249 -> 3” to 2.5” reducer -> TRD the rest of the way

    I think I remember my E46 wagon had that and it made a rattle noise so I disconnected the vacuum hose to it. Something like that.

    When I lowered and custom fit my xrunner bodykit to my TRD sport years ago. I was shocked how my stock catback almost fit perfectly and lined up out the exhaust dip on the xrunner kit. The frames are very similar if not identical. I just might have to take a trip down to Texas one of these days. :thumbsup:

    How do you like the TRD? I thought it sounded great. Good tone but not too loud.

    Here is a really cool basic demonstration on how exhaust collectors work. While watching the video, imagine the exhaust pulses alternating equally through the collector (y-pipe), and then imagine what would be going on in the collector with an unequal length y-pipe.

    I like it a lot better, but I did temporarily install the stock y-pipe. So that may be making the TRD exhaust seem quieter than it would be with the JFR y-pipe. Going to do some more testing during spring break.

    I should do a dB test on my banks system. My truck does not seem that loud honestly. Granted I know most of those who have systems that are too loud I think all have headers with no cats. I still have my oem cats in the headers. Shorties ftw who wants to trade their equal lengths? :D

    I think eventually I will do shorties. The plan is to do v-band flanges between the cat and the shorties, so that if the cats go bad in the future they can be replaced without taking the shorties off.

    Thanks! My garage used to be a lot cleaner than it is now. As I’ve amassed more tools, the hot wheels have slowly made their way into cardboard boxes. Eventually I plan on gutting the entire garage and starting over with new tool boxes and cabinetry, then I’ll have a hot wheels wall again.

    My TRD system is quieter now, than with the stock y-pipe. Plus the drone is gone.

    Good to hear. I just need to get under there and get it all mated up first and see how it sounds.

    I should have my headers installed this weekend and I’ll try to post a clip of it.

    My last attempt failed and my iPhone didn’t capture the exhaust sound well. Plus, I expected it to be a lot louder than it ended up being. I’m still amazed how quiet my current system is.
