I still have the sway bar on. I need to do 5100's on the rear soon, the AAL's w/ stock Bilsteins are a little rough. Why the switch to the 5160 over the 5100?

I have ToyTec progressive AALs and Ride-Rite Airbags on rear; 5100s all around, TRD OR coils up front - right at 2nd slot, left at 3rd slot to level out. Both rear 5100s are shot. All the oil has leaked out. I have three toolboxes full of stuff going off road daily for work...the rear 5100s just haven't held up to my liking - thus the 5160 decision.

My front end dives a lot on braking. I thought of going to the 6112 but decided to try Eibach 521600 springs first.

Awesome build thread, love the organization and the truck.

Birmingham roads are more like the moon than actual roads, some of the worst I've seen (my wife's folks live in Oxford, MS so we get to do that Hwy 20 ride at least once a year). You should remove your sway bar and see if you're comfortable with it off. I was impressed with the ride quality improvement when mine came off.

Man you should see downtown, it is definitely cratered like the moon.

So I've had a few people ask about the sway bar, is it a given that I should remove it? What ride quality characteristics improved? If it makes this thing less harsh over all the terrible pavement in town it'd be worth it to me for that.

I've removed mine and put back on. When off, truck really flows better through bumps and when articulated. But for my case using TRD OR coils on the road the truck leans a lot further in corners. I'm hoping the 521600 coils can allow removal of the sway and still retain good on road manors.

Pretty much any bump that hits only one wheel at a time will be smoother. Turning in driveways, angled speed bumps, etc. Also get better articulation offroad and save 30lbs or so off the front of the truck (hey, every bit counts right?). I wouldn't say it's a given for everyone but it is for me.

Downside will be more body roll. You may find it too much for your taste but I barely notice it. Also, not sure how much the improvement will be with aftermarket suspension, I'm stock.

Either way, it's worth the 10-15 minutes to try it.

Did you ever get rid of the vibes? What do you think caused them, the front or rear lift? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on some 5100's and 884 coils with a 1.5" AAL. (I'll be removing the overload leaf) for my 2015 DCSB offroad and I'm nervous as hell about getting these God forsaken vibrations I hear so much about. I'd love a 2.5" but I'm worried about alignment issues and can't afford UCA's. Do you thing a 2" lift would cause the vibes? How BAD are they? From the way you described them earlier they don't sound terrible. Any advise from you or anyone with a 2-2.5" lift would be much appreciated.

After spending a ton of time reading this site, I think mild vibes are just the cost of doing business when lifting the rear of the truck regardless of what type of lift it is (blocks, AAL's, leaf packs, etc).

People remedy the vibrations a variety of different ways, its totally case by case. Possible countermeasures are: rear axle degree shims, carrier bearing drop spacers, one-piece driveshafts, or Beefed Taco's CB Bracket.

I have not totally fixed mine yet, all I've tried are the OME CB drop spacers, I think they're like 3/8". My truck is tolerable, its hard to judge how it compares to other trucks and other complaints on this site because its a very subjective characteristic. What might bother me might not bother you at all.

I ordered a Beefed Taco carrier bearing drop bracket two weeks ago (4 week lead time), this replaces the lower CB bracket, and adds another attachment point to the truck. This supposed robust solution has rave reviews on TW.com, and BT claims a 95% success rate in eliminating vibes. When that comes in I'll post the result on my truck.
