I mentioned earlier in this thread that on my Jump N Carry jump pack that the gauge quit working. I decided to take it apart and fix it. It turns out the problem was just the push button switch. It's kind of a cheeseball switch and if you leave the jump pack out in the rain, on it's side, switch side up, the water pools up in the switch pocket and drains down into the switch. I replaced the switch with a nice Carling switch with a rubber boot, and now I am going to be more careful about not leaving it out in the rain.

So, lesson learned here, if it might be out in the rain, make sure it's vertical, or if on it's side, make sure it's switch side down.

We found a similar thing at the marina where I work. If you drop your jump box in the lake, it won't work anymore.

If it's below zero I wouldn't count on any jump pack working. I left mine in my truck over night and had nothing when I went to jump the next day. Let it warm up inside for 30 minutes and it worked fine. Just something to think about if you keep yours in your vehicle all the time.

I think the biggest reason would be because it's sitting on the bottom of the lake. LOL

I got tired of lugging a battery pack when I went off-roading, I wired an AGM 34 battery to my charging system. I still have the battery pack; wonder if it still holds a charge ... I might end up getting a NOCO or something of similar size for the wife's new car.

I didn't see anything in the description about extreme temperatures.

Used in zero degree weather (wind chill) and 90 degree heat with 100% humidity. Used on my Tacoma, ninja 636, wife's SUV, mother in law's car, neighbor's vehicles etc. For the price and what I need it for, it does the job well. Starts first crank. I bought the warranty with it and if it fails, I'll get my money back and get something like a NOCO. So far, I have been please with the harbor freight jump pack.

My Harbor Freight version will start my truck several times when the battery won't. I have the lead-acid battery model. It's been good. I've misplaced my jumper cables but then I'm more concerned about rescuing myself.

I have a cheap one (OEM tools) that I won for selling so many of them years ago when I was w/ Autozone. I demo'd it on old diesels, trucks, etc, etc. That's how I sold so many of them. It always worked. Many shops told me "If it starts this thing, I'll take 4".

You've used it below zero F on a completely dead battery? Maybe I just have a shitty one.

One thing we've learned about "stone dead" batteries is that no matter what jump box you have, when you're trying to jump start a stone, it's probably not going to end well. Sometimes we have to actually disconnect one of the battery cables to take the dead battery out of the circuit. I would assume the same goes for a stone dead battery in sub-zero conditions. As for my G700, I haven't had any problems down to about 10 degrees F. (Haven't jumped anything below that.)

It jumps a cold battery fine as long as the jump pack isn't frozen. Battery was putting out 1.5V with no load.
