- RS999319 rear shocks and 1.5" lifting blocks

I got exactly 2.5" in the front and 1.5" in the rear.
The Rancho's ride great and are very stable

Very nice, how is the aligment? I like the stance.

 

I did a straight strut replace and kept the stock control arms. The alignment is all in spec with no issues.

 

Looks sharp perfect hight . I like the stance . Did you get any vibration?

 

curiosity what size tire you running in that picture?

 

No vibration at all. I've only had it up to 70 so far....but nothing.

Tires are 265/75/16 . I wanted to stay more conservative for gas mileage and better snow/wet traction

 

No vibrations . That's good to hear . Keep us up dated on how it dos as time gos on .

 

Strongly considering this for my 2014.
What was the damage $?

 

$485 for the two front strut/coils, and two rear shocks (with and $80 rebate through Nov) and $80 for the rear lift block, but I recommend a new leaf pack instead.

Since installing a month ago, I have notices some "axle wrap" in the rear and think I will need to change the front UCA's for better alignment and control... so the changes start adding up a bit. My learning with my first project is that there is no super easy and cheap way to lift it... the costs add up to do it the right way

 

Id agree with the new leaf pack.
I've got a fiberglass cap and haul around a about 100#s of tools daily, and the boat on the weekends.
Which leaf pack would match the fronts added 2.5 " lift though?
I got some from somebody in the Midwest for my 2008 but don't recall the MFG at this moment

 

Hey guys, new member here. I have seen in the past people mentioning a leveling kit or leveling the toyota trucks, tacomas. I want to ask you, is this because the back end sits higher than the front and it looks a bit tilted in stock form? When you do a lift do you still need to level the truck with some sort of kit, or does the lift take care of any leveling that needs to be done? Thank You much for any help, responses!

UPDATE....
Well my "perfect setup" went south really quick....: (
With the Rancho Quicklift and 1.5" lift blocks in the rear I was having issues with alignment, vibration and axle wrap. The Quicklift ended up raising the front up 3" and the axle wrap was from not stiffening the rear springs with AALs or a new leaf pack. I think the vibration was coming from the drive shaft angle being all jacked up....
I removed the Rancho's and lift block and started from scratch......


I called Dan from Wheelers Offroad and bought a new package and after a lot of consultation we ended up with the below package....

Front: Bilstein 5100's with OME 883 springs set to the lowest ride height position
1/4" and 3/8" spacers on the drivers side.... 3/8" spacers on passenger side
Raised the front 2.5" and sits perfectly level

Rear: Bilstein 5100 shocks and a 3 leaf Add-a-leaf pack (removed the overload leaf).
Stiffened up the rear very nice and raised it 1.75"

The truck sits with about a .5 - 1" rake on it...but visually looks level.

Ride is immaculate... alignment is perfect.... and most important no axle wrap or vibration!

Good luck with the new suspension. I made the same mistake on my '07 a few years ago and ended up going back to stock. I just purchased the 5100 setup you did and will be installing it with my frame replacement in a few weeks. Looking forward to seeing how the truck rides this summer on the beach.

 

That's what I did with my 2008. But I used Skyjacker Softride leaf pack in the rear.
At first I liked it but thought the front was a little stiff. Maybe from compressing the coils to get the lowest possible lift(about 2-2.5")
One of the rear billies started to weep after one year.
We all ran Ranchos when were doing a lot of off-roading and we were all drive Chevy and Ford. 5000's thru their 9000's and we loved them. I was hoping I could get the same from Rancho for my Toy.

Looks good . You will like this set up much better. I did the same as you in the front but with out the spacers and left the back stock and I love it .

 

I had the same problem with the rear Billies at stock height. After my second set I went to the Billstein 4600 and no more issues.

 

Never use blocks. Its good you ditched them and went to a leaf pack. As soon as you said Rancho I cringed. They may have been ok back in the 80s but today its just not the lift kit for a Tacmoa.

 

I used to think this too. Refused to use them, thought they were the worst thing ever and made the truck useless. Then I installed my RCD lift and decided to just use the provided 4" blocks for a couple months until I could decide on a new leaf pack. Two years of beating the crap out of the truck and I'm still on the blocks because I never had any issues with them. Still on the old crappy stock TRD OR leaf pack too. Just went and got a bunch of topsoil a couple months ago and weighed in at over 1,900lbs in the bed on the crappy spring/crappy block combo with no issues.
