So I buy my Taco thinking I will never need 4WD. Im from the midwest, living in Louisiana, never intended to take my truck off road (yes, I'm one of those guys), and considered my investment wise-all things considered.

Recently I find out that the Air Force is moving me to Colorado Springs...ahhh! Sure, I can survive with some weight in the back end, but it sure would be nice to have the piece of mind of 4WD during the winter. Just my luck!

I so shouldnt have signed that bottom line all those years ago...:(

Yeah but dont you have a rear end locker? VERY effective in snow too!

I heard the locker was bad for the snow

I can't say otherwise cause I have never drove in snow with anything other than a 5 speed '96 Civic hatch.

I would keep your truck and see how it does in snow. If you come to find your good enough in snow with what you have, you will have saved a few thousand.

Your fine, just get some snow tires for winter.

While I have 4wd, even in 2wd the truck rocks with a set Blizzaks on. I ran a 2wd truck w/ snowies for a decade, and that was on the Tug Hill, 250 inches a year.

Unless your blasting through steep and deep unplowed roads, 2wd & Snow tires better than 4wd & all-seasons.

I used my locker in snow in the foothills last year and it's VERY effective! Don't forget it gives you two spinning wheels at all times...you have to be careful cause it gets sqirmy but with power under control it is a good tool:)
