I've been wanting a pickup as a 3rd vehicle so that I can work on my Miata without worrying about putting everything back together in time to get to work the next morning, and last night I snagged a 1997 Tacoma (2wd, 3.4l V6, 5sp, ext. cab) for a decent price. Paint is a little funny (you'll see what I mean when I post pics), and it has high miles, but otherwise it's in pretty good shape. With very rare snow down here (and no plans for off roading), I wasn't interested in 4wd, but I definitely wanted a manual transmission, and I like that the V6 gives me more payload and towing capacity.

Anyway, some of the offroad builds here are pretty impressive -- my plans are much more modest. I just want a reliable daily driver, so most of my work on the Tacoma will be toward that end.

I imagine I'll be using the search function a lot, so I may not be posting much, but I'll be around.

Hey -- are you on the xdtalk forums? Seems like I recall your username from somewhere, maybe the political subforum over there?
