Well, the dealer has had the truck for a day and a half now and I haven't gotten any updates, no calls or anything. I've called three times...two times yesterday evening and one time just a few minutes ago. Every time I call, I get transferred to someone else and it just rings to their voicemail. So after trying to speak with three different service writers and not having luck, i'll call the Service Manager this evening if i don't hear anything back. I figured in a day and a half they should have figured out SOMETHING by now.. They either cant duplicate, or they're performing some sort of solution.

If I was being dodged for a day and a half on a response to the status of my $40k truck repair I'd go in person and ask.

Yeah, you're right. One of my own service writers has been telling me the same thing, This wouldn't fly here at my shop, but I felt like giving them the benefit of the doubt.

So hey, any of you guys in Utah, Skip the heartache and don't go to Toyota Bountiful.

.. or it's been sitting in the parking lot because they're too busy to deal with your issue on a warranty repair.

Had this happen to my fiance just a few months ago on a recall through Chevrolet. They had her car for 2 days, the repair was less than an hour.

They kept telling her over the phone it would be done in a few hours, then no word. She'd call and no call back. Then they'd call back and say "it'll be tomorrow morning, we don't have the part in stock," which wasn't true, either.

Morning comes and surprise, not ready, call in a few hours. She called, they blew her off again. So I called and told this service writer what he is going to do and when, and I picked it up myself in an hour - fixed.

That dealer name sounds like a bad strip club in Korea or PI.

    How so just 3Gen?
This is the MO for the last 10 years 2GEN, rear leafs, driveline vibes, clunks, whistles etc.
They need to replicate or nothing can happen unless enough cases are documented & TSB comes out.
    That is how they roll....
That stinks for the OP, hope it gets fixed. It is at least noted in vehicle record.

Six phone calls later and two full days of no update, I went in and person stopped their work and picked the truck up. they were "unable" to duplicate all the concerns I had and didn't have much to say about the fact that I had called them so many times with no luck. Based off the Repair-Order, they pretty much storied everything out as "no problem found".

I drove the truck from that dealership to Mark Miller Toyota in Salt Lake City where i originally purchased the truck and met up with the salesman i worked with, He recommended a specific service writer to work with and I was much much more comfortable working with this guy, He told me to expect a call tomorrow before noon

    so..round 2?

That's pretty lame. Hope you have better luck at the other dealer. Keep us posted.

There seems to be a lot of lazy dealers out there.Any trans issue should have a the fliud checked even if you can't duplicate the concern.Thats just covering the basics.

Mine does this too, especially when cold. Also, why do these trucks take so damn long to warm up? It's warm here in AZ and it takes forever for the rpm's to drop. Even once warmed up I've run into the store for 5 minutes and come back out and there still idling around 1200 and seems like it still takes several minutes to lower. I could tap the gas with any of my Fords and the rpm's would come right down once warmed up but not this truck. I hate having to throw it into R/D like this but I'd spend half my day waiting it to drop.

Why aren't people waiting a moment after they select drive before releasing the brake and stepping on the throttle?

I've turned to doing this since my dealer said they could not replicate the issue. I guess I have to wait for my transmission to fall off before I can get it diagnosed.

From the hundreds and I mean hundreds of low transmission fluid posts within the past couple weeks at Tacoma World , I can only recommend 1 thing
Learn to check your own fluid because the dealer isnt going to check it for you
As sad as this is to say , If the truck had a filler tube with a level indicator , there wouldnt be an issue
All you guys are familiar with checking the transmission fluid using the fill tube .
Overflow plugs are the way the fluid is checked now
Learn the procedure and check your own fluid
Do not continue driving with a low fluid condition .
Pinning the thermostat seems to be the answer as to why all these trucks are low .

I ain't trying to step on your toes but pinning the stat is not required for these trucks. I am very thankful for the knowledge have put out there but as for now this is false. Until there is a repair manual revision, this is NOT how toyota is checking the fluid.

If you want to definitively know how to check your fluid, spend the money for a 2 day pass for the factory manual. Please don't take TW advise as the gospel.
