great question because when i flipped mine for kicks and giggles, i just unbolted the two bolts, turned the whole clamped carrier bearing casing around and tried to bolt it up, but it cant because the bottom half is thicker than the top half and it wont fit between the crossbar that it bolts to. that donut around the carrier bearing only fits up in there to bolt on one way, its too thick the other way.

see my post right below yours- unless something is different in model years, thats not true.... it simply doesnt fit back up int there to bolt up when you flip it over.

That was what I was thinking too when I've tried to mess with the shims and such. I'll take a look again, but I think I'm in the same boat.

Nope, I had no trouble flipping the center bearing on my 2007, V6. Maybe he has an aftermarket center bearing? Hoping someone can post some pics to show what prevents it from flipping.

PS: Driveshaft angles (front to rear) before flip were 4.5 ⬇️, 1.6⬆️, 3.4⬆️ With 2.5” lift in rear.
After flip, 1.5⬇️, 6⬇️, 6⬆️. While this is a better match to cancel out vibrations, it seems to generate higher vibrations during 0-5 mph, but smooth afterwards, probably because there is a higher angle at joint next to center bearing.

I have the same exact problem with mine, after replacing the carrier bearing on take off mph 0-10 but no vibration at speeds above 10mph that I have noticed. Going to try flipping that bearing around like you did and then proceed from there. Thanks for the info! Finally someone has given useful information about this problem.

@Norsk some lite reading on driveline vibes. There's a lot of BS in this thread, but some really good posts on how to figure out where the issue is.

Heyo quick question. My pinions reading 2.1 degrees up from the transfer case with no shims. I have some 3 degree shims. Just wondering if i should try those out putting the thinner end backwards hopefully giving me 1 degree down or if I should order some 2 degree shims and try to get it to 0. Any help would be much appreciated!

    1. install a bunch of shims and spacers at your axle and Carrier bearing to the point of completely throwing off your angles.
    2. drive around trying to figure out why your truck drives like shit.
    3. take all the shims and spacers out.
    4. rejoice in how good you had it all along.

Heres one for you giys thats xriving me crazy ...2020 tacoma 11,000 miles. Since day one its been an issue.dealer doesnt give a shit ..had new leaf spring tsb done and new drums that helped some but its wierd to describe...take.off.normally is fine unless I step.on it lile.im running from.the cops then I get some rumble .assuming tjats slip yoke ?
About to vheck it to see if its greased.some have said theirs werent . when I drive its fine.my problem.is braking....if I stop slow I get a thud/shudder repwtetive sound. Hard to really feel it if going normal.or slow but I can hear it .if I stop very slow its less repwtetive and less pronounced..if I stop very fast and hard then its either smooth or almost smooth .if its almost smooth then its less repwtetive and not so pronounced..if I stop medium and wuick then it will be very very repeptive and fast.almost like a rumble strip or electric toothbrush?I can almost feel.it when that happens but its usually always a hearing it type situation..somewhat feel but not a like a car with bad rotors type feel where the whole car shakes ...if I use sport mode it still happens unless I downshift myzelf .im wondering if when I downshift I'm using the engine braking and therefore the driveshaft doesn't pull down so much and the angles dont change so much?wondering if its carrier bearing issue?angle issue? Or axle wrap? I just ordered a angle finder .it should be here tomorrow and I'm thinking about doing a lift only so I van get more sturdy springs.if I go that route I'll be getting a one piece or a 2 piece with a double cardon made for me ...sucks I have to deal with this with a new truck but it is what it is ...any help or thoughts are appreciated..the shitty part is every webpage or person has different ideas on how the angles should be on a 2 piece ..some say make the first part of the shaft as your transfercase pinion but then again they also day make ur transfercase pinion and first part of shaft near zero...not possible for me ..so all I can do is either try to make the two parts of the shaft the same and .make the two pinion glanges within 3 degrees or consider my first shaft my pinion angle and make the rear pinion within 3 degrees??? But if I'm using a double cardon theb make the rear pinion 2 lower then straight up at it (per tom woods) due to the double cardon???? Very confused and not even sure how to tackle setting up a 2 piece...my first part of driveshaft isnt even straight with the second part..its slightly slanted to one side.i dont even have the brain power to think about compond angles..the sad thing is I cant trust dealers to care or have the knowledge and even driveline shops are hit and miss...if anyone has any thoughts or advive id grratly appreciate it .

There are a number of owners with the rumble strip feeling while braking. I used to have that as well but after a lift and a few other things it’s gone away. I’m not sure what’s gotten rid of it, but I have 7k miles new (Ironman) leafs and ubolt flip kit. Something may have changed something to stop it.

Just curious, where do you end up with this? Did you fix the vibes at stock ride height? If you're that confused about working with angles on 2 shafts and you're doing a lift, why not just bite the bullet and get a 1 piece shaft made?
