That's how I understood it. N ot sure what a 180 shove is. Just use the driveshaft as the rotation axis.

The carrier bearing looks like this: -O-

Except that the mounting tabs aren't perfectly centered on the "O"

You basically just unbolt both ears, the driveshaft will drop a few inches, rotate the bearing on the driveshaft and bolt back up. However, the most important step is to measure the angles and adjust the height of the carrier bearing to equalize the angles of the front and rear driveshafts. That might require only flipping the bearing or shimming it to a height to equalize. I don't think flipping the bearing alone will fix many vibration problems

Cool thanks guys...my first thought for flipping was removing it and turning it front to back, but now I get it. I do have a CB drop that looks like 3/4"-1", thats when my sound got worse. I did order a digital gauge to check my angles just waiting on it. Might try this flip tho cause the vibration don't sound good to wait till mon/tue.

5100's all around, fronts at 1.75". TSB leaf pack + Toytec TSB AAL
As I mentioned in a previous post, for my setup, flipping the CB then dropping it about another 3/8 of an inch, probably just a hair less than 1/2" gave me the best angles. Yours might be different depending on how much lift you have in the rear.

Subbed. Getting lifted toady (Icon pack in the rear). Mine came stock with with driveline vibes. Hoping they don't get too much worse.

BTW, what are everyone's thoughts on a one piece shaft? More likely to solve this problem?

Are you sure? According to this http://www2.dana.com/pdf/J3311-1-DSSP.pdf Page 14, the rear axle/pinion should be parallel to the first shaft, not the output of the transmission. That's how I interpret it...thoughts?

I have the same vib after I put my lift on. Tried the cb drop it made it a little better. I am going to give it a try this weekend and see how it goes.

So I tried to flip the Cb and I left the OME shims in and it fixed the 25 mph vib but then created a shutter off the start. I put back the original way. I am going to order the shims for the rear then I will go from there.

Thought I'd share my results so far as well...
Lift is OME w/ Dakar springs, which created vibes @~20-30mph.
Installed 3 deg shims in the rear and returned the CB to stock position. Vibes are totally gone, and only sometimes have a slight shudder when pulling forward from stopped.
I'll measure my angles this week and maybe play with the CB height a little, but this seems to be a totally solvable problem if people take their time and think it through.

I have tried almost everything to try and get rid of my stupid take off shudder..

Tomorrow Im getting a degree finder and playing around with it some more.. I got 2* axle shims I may need to use, but need new center pins if I do need it..

So to my understanding, the pinion angle should match your trans. angle?

On the Tacoma, yes. Then adjust the carrier bearing so that the difference between the 2 shafts is about a degree. You need a slight angle in that joint to lubricate it properly and keep it rotating for even wear.

    k. So I just read some where that the pinion/axle angle should match the first drive shaft angle (coming from trans.)
or should it match the trans. angle?

and that the first shaft angle needs to be around 1-1.5* off of the trans.?
am I correct on this or what?

    thanks for any help...

What you are describing is a typical truck set-up, but not what Touota did. The first shaft is not at 1 degree so you cannot align to it. You have to align the pinon to the TCase output, if need be. Most 3" lifts don't require much if any axle correction. Once that is confirmed, you can adjust the carrier bearing to achieve a 1 degree at that joint.

Spent all day trying to fix my take off shudder, and I think I made it worse! :(

Installed the 2* shim I had and then played around with the CB. spacing it down spining it and what not. Nothing seemed to help..

Not sure what to do next. Im almost tempted to take it to a driveline shop!

Got it and tryed that too. With no luck..

My angles right now arent bad and are where they should be. from what I read.

My pinnion angle and 2nd shaft are within 3 degrees of each other.
and my 1st. shaft and pinion angles are about the same. (very close)
not sure what else to try!
