Hey guys. So I'm kinda new to my truck and have been trying to learn as much as possible and checked before asking. I just noticed my A-trac button has been pushed into the on position for the past like 700 miles and a decrease in mpg which I think might've been it. I've been in 2H this whole time. Is there any downside to having it switched on during that time? Could it have caused any damage to anything by chance? Also it's an automatic 2014 4x4 double cab. Thank you in advance.

    Too few to list.
    Welcome. The A-trac button doesn't activate in 2H. I believe it's only active 4Low.

    yup, only 4wd system.
you'd know if it was working you'd hear the physical clicking and pumping of the a-trac system as it
does it's thing. what to do might be go offroad in some slop,
and it put in 4lo and use a-trac and become familiar with it's noises

That's what the one sentence I read said. 4lo for A trac to engage. Sounds like it controls wheel spin through the brakes.

As the others said no big deal at all, only active in 4LO. I actually keep mine on by default since if I'm in 4LO then I'm likely in a situation where I want ATRAC too.

Wow speedy responses! Sounds good then. Thanks you guys I really do appreciate it. Currently in AZ right now until I move to DC next week so I'll have to find a place to test this out then. I appreciate it again you guys! Great to learn new stuff

That's not a bad idea. Smart.

    yup

you already have an electric rear lsd, which uses brakes and an open differential to
get traction in 2wd that a mechanical limited slip would produce.

a-trac effectively activates a additional brake-actuated front wheel electric lsd, when in 4lo...this also requires more brake system hardware (more complex pumping module in the engine bay)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JXqpQmOxLk

a-trac light would be lit up on the dash if it were active, and also other lights lit like vsc and trac disabled (trac and a-trac are different things)

Your decrease in mpg is AZ gas. I don't know anyone in AZ getting good mpg.
