Upper control arm. You often time can't get a good alignment with the stock UCA's once you're lifted. Aftermarket ones are adjustable and enable you to dial in to a good alignment.

Not true. They make them for different vehicles maybe those are the wrong ones. Headstrong offroad has the best price on them.

I've considered a lift until I've read about major ball joint failures, insurance issues and the like. Therefore I'm going to stick with the stock suspension and get new tires.

In my case and my driving habits a lift isn't something I really need. I've got a long bed and I really don't plan on leaving the planet with the truck or trying to scale for sport or the X-games.

You can install without and see how your alignment is with the stock upper control arms and get them later if you need. Youre more likely to need them than not. I just bought them right off the bat to ensure of would be fine and save another trip to the shop.

^this. If you do the install yourself it is much easier to do the upper control arms at the same time. There is some guys here with 3" of lift and stock UCAs, some of them claim the alignment is fine, but their caster numbers are low. Ushually when your caster numbers are below spec the truck might feel like it wanders at high speed
