I dont think there is a provision for monitoring the tranny temp on the ECU.

Yes a Scangage will follow temp in the transmission. It can monitor two temp points. I have both of these programed into my Scangage for constant monitoring.

One point is the temp of the fluid in the pan. The second point is torque converter outlet temp.

It is something to monitor. Starting out in the morning both temps start married. As the trans warms up, it may not see above 115 on either if I get on a road with the converter locked up. Hit some stop and go, the pan temp is normally around 145 / 150 but the TC temp will be all over the place and typically around 165.

I need to install my new trans cooler and do away with the water to ATF (fluid to fluid) radiator cooler and also convert my OEM trans cooler into a power steering cooler. So much to do, and never enough time.

Need to install and weld up my DTST headers, need to accomplish the trans cooler mod, need to modify my Volant scoop for proper fit and easy removal to access coolant, need to properly bleed and make the brakes better than the crappy oem bleed, need to fab or buy a catch can install and Sea Foam my intake, all this and now I want to see if the TX Pro or Baja has a better frame and may just buy a new truck if it does.

The Scanage makes it easy to accomplish a fluid level check. Very cool item, but a bit prehistoric of a display. It works but is very dated in appearance.

To the OP, is this a newer Scangage or early Scangage? Newer ones will work, older ones will not if I recall correctly.

How are you using this to check the fluid level?
I just received my new Scan Gauge II and trying to learn here how to turn ON the Trans Temp in X gauge.. lots of reading; I will get there.

You can use the scangage to verify trans fluid temp, but you still must pull the fill plug and overfill and run out the excess.

This is flat out not possible.

And, OP, what exactly does this mean " would it work like the factory scan tool for transmission fill temp?" ??

LOL, I agree. Ive enjoyed driving with the SG II for the past week but still have not fiqured out how to read trans temp through the X gauge area yet? I can get to x gauge but not read any data from there. Yet, do you have any pointers? Thx

Look into the instructions for how to program in an Xguage, using the codes from above. Once into the Xguage creation screens you enter the codes and then select that guage to display on the SG. If you don't have the instructions, they are on the SG website.

Their all just codes that Ive found on this forum. Im about where you are with the tranny temp. Out of programming like 7-10 different deals, I only got the 2 diff. tranny temps to work and OIL temp and hell it reads like -40 all the time so.....

I was looking fwd to the altitude, Psi, oil temp.,fuel tank %, Oh and a couple more that Im forgetting. It's be nice to post all the codes in one nice place and make it a sticky? The scan gauge does seem very popular here, hell Id never even had know about it until a few weeks ago when I joined here to learn about my truck. Its still a great tool, just need all the correct codes.

I don't recall exactly where I got the codes. They definitely were not all preloaded in the unit.

In regards to the guy that mocks the trans fluid level check, agree it may not be as easy as a dipstick, but is simpler than jacking around with your shift lever to see a flashing light. The scangage reads temp and once within the temp window you can verify he fluid level by the oem method of slight overfill being drained off to a trickle.

I do have a question, my scangage is not that old but foes not have the °f symbol available as a selectable item. Do the newer versions offer this or does anyone know if there is a download to upgrade current scangage preloaded symbols.
