The limited comes with fancy mirror. No hidden wires in the headliner to tap into? I just bought a sr5 2015 and want to mod the mirror

Power wires are in the headliner right above the mirror. Only thing you have to run is a wire for the temp sensor

From my understanding if you have a 2015 the wiring may or may not be in place above the headliner.

Threads like this make me wish I was more of a DIY adventurous type. I'd love to have an autodimming mirror with temp and compass in it. Let alone a Home link!!

My 2015 had it. See TW member RJP869. He sells a mirror kit with the correct power plug so the mirror harness plugs into the factory Tacoma power plug above the headliner. All you do is run the temp sensor wire up front.

My 2015 is supposed to be in this week and I wanted to preorder the mirror before the truck came but Bob the mirror guy told me that some 2015s have the wiring in place and some don't.

Installed Cooper At/3's (265/70R16) and ProComp 7089 Rims. Tinted front windows. Did the Fog Light Anytime mod. Did the tailgate mod. Added running boards. Adding sound Deadening from RAAMaudio. Replacing stock speakers with Polk Audio DB6501's.
Looks like a Gentex 50-GENK20A. I think I looked at that one but it's more expensive and I didn't want the display in the mirror itself. Either way, stick with CIPA/Donnley or Gentex and you will be happy.

It's not that difficult. One hour job for me, maybe two for you. Plenty of people here to help you through the process. Homelink adds $$$$ to the equation. I just keep a $19 push-button in the overhead. Had a car once with Homelink in the mirror, didn't like it.... every time you pushed the button, you had to readjust the mirror.

I just bought one from Bob for my new 2015 tacoma (which did not have the mirror pre-wired at all), but couldn't make it to work. Spent hours over the phone with Homelink support without luck. They told me to send it back for replacement.
But I noticed yesterday that when I press and hold any Homelink button, it activates AC. And the mirror only get the red light when I turned the ignition pass the accessories mode.

Does anyone know or have pictures/diagram of how to wire this plug and play Gentex Homelink mirror?

Mine's not a Gentex but is should be wired in a similar fashion. I ran the power wire along side the temperature sensor wire along the headliner, down the left column into the instrument panel. Then used an "Add-A-Fuse" to tap power from the AC fuse located in the cab. I attached the ground to a bolt I found under the panel. My truck was not pre-wired at the overhead console. If you want, I can take some pictures later today.
