BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I just installed the Thorley header on my 2010 2.7 4 cylinder today and it's not good. It's GREAT!

First let me say one air pipe (2nd from front of engine) on the header was welded just a tiny bit too high and was JUST in the way of the egr valve so had to grind area under valve for clearance; one problem, ground alittle too much through cover and made hole. Laid aluminum weld bead inside of cover to grind enough relief for the egr to fit over the egr pipe on manifold. If Thorley welded this one egr pipe a teensy bit lower there would have been no issues at all with the install.

Clearly Headers are not a supercharger or camshaft change but immediately I could tell the engine was running smoother.

Entering the freeway the truck effortlessly got to 60 mph with ease (Before, I was praying just to get the truck to 50-55 mph) Again, don't get me wrong it's still not a Buick Grand National but the truck clearly IS able to cruise with other cars at freeway speeds (that was a pipe dream before the header)

All in all this was a good day!:D

Now, if we could get 100 Taco owners to do a group buy on the SUPERCHARGER I could have a VERY good day! :boink:

That doesn't sound like good news. It sounds like Great news!

I have the Reg Cab too and was thinking of getting these headers. How's the noise inside the cab at full throttle and at cruising speed?

And you can +1 me for the supercharger group buy... :turtleride:

OK, I just took the truck for it's second "Maiden Voyage" a nice cruise on the highway. Oh.. my.. God; this is unbeleivable. No noise over stock really that I can detect but I have got to tell you this truck is suddenly as nice to drive on the highway as my V8 87 Buick Regal Limited ( I'm not kidding and never even dreamed I'd ever say that).

Cruising at 60mph yes 60...tapping the throttle. I am frankly in disbelief. Again don't get me wrong it doesn't come close to being as fast as my 86 Buick Grand National either (yet) but I was able to not only pace faster cars (like the idiot in the Volvo) but clearly could have been all over him had I wanted to. I am still convincing myself that only this morning my truck was an enemic 4 cylinder "truck" that frankly couldn't get out of it's own way but now it breathes...very well! I full throttled it at 50 mph and in say 4 seconds I was at 65 mph. I still can't believe it.

I can't even imagine what this animal would do with a camshaft and or SUPERCHARGER!:)

I'm really, really starting to LOVE this "Truck"!

i also got my headers, a little to nervous to install them myself but at the mod day on the 26th i will be getting them on.

so you say the off the line has a definite increase?

do you believe that the grinding will be necessary on all headers or it was just a mistake with yours?

I did not want to rap the egr pipe on the header down the little bit for fear of breaking it so went the grind the egr way. Be prepared to take the egr cover over to your local aluminum welder (make a new friend) for a bead on the inside so you can notch it to fit over that egr tube on the header. I took some pics with my phone but they didn't turn out. I'm going to take some pics of the header installed with my camera.

Off the line isn't so much better (you would need a camshaft or SUPERCHARGER) but better airflow does give the ability to extend gear changes (very slightly) on the low end. It's on the highway in top gear that is clearly unbelievable. I haven't (but can feel) this truck would WALK to 90mph, no problemo just the way it is!

I can imagine fuel economy is only going to go up since I'm using alot less throttle.

We only need 98 more people for the SUPERCHARGER GB!

Sounds to me like you're using more throttle ;)

I have the DT header and did not have to grind anything to install it. My guess is that either DT or LCE headers should not require any grinding assuming they were made correctly. They are supposed to be a bolt on modification.

Congrats to the OP for making his work and on the improved performance!

Hopefully the wee bit the egr tube was off was a rare deal; who knows, maybe it was the egr manufacture itself. No biggie. Got pics just have to find my patch cable to upload them.

Took truck for 4 hour cruise today; I'm off work Thursday and Friday :p It was awesome to drive the truck on the highway and being able to pace traffic. Couldn't do that before.

    Runs great!

Looking at the URD website it looks like there is no 2.7 super, yet. The v6 one is 5,995.00  with no discount.
