Looks good, what about that wireing going to the cab is there a way to get it inside?

The plow should work OK if you take it easy and don't hit something hard and bend some iron.

Why do you say you don't think it would stand up?

You can run it into the cab if you want. It has a plug under the hood so it is easy to take off with the plow. You can see it next to the battery, the black cable.

Damn, how wide is that plow? Width-wise that thing looks like it'd be a home in front of a 3/4 ton. Take it easy with a plow that wide, that's a lot of plow for the Tacoma.

Are you interested in selling the tow hook you removed to install the plow crossmember? If so how much?

    Thanks

The plow is 88", I think it is only about 8" wider than the wheels, 4" each side.

No I'm not going to sell the tow hook, I will be putting it back on when snow season is over.

Thanks Ken for the reply, it is only for home use so I did not think it was as heavy duty as the commercial plows but will do what I need it to do. They did have some commercial ones but at more than twice what I paid for this one. Got any pics of the mounts?

I need to get some markers for the driveway before the next good snow as there are a few large rocks on the edge of the driveway that may become hidden.

Just got about 2” with freezing rain on top and got to try the plow out.

I mounted before the snow started and backed it into the garage ready to go.

 WOW, works great and makes lots of noise (woke at least one neighbor). This morning around 6am I go out and check the road, no plow has made it by only one vehicle. I angled the plow and plow my driveway and down my hill to the street and back. The snow and ice was a flying and now I can see pavement! I didn’t even have to get out to angle the plow at all.

It was still dark and took a few pictures and will see if they turned out. I’ll try to get more later if I get a chance.

I almost pulled the trigger on one of these back in 05 when I bought my access cab brand new. The local dealer here actually uses one of these to plow their lot and say it's tougher than it looks. But considering the cost and the fact that my old 89 doesn't seem like it's ever going to die I'm going to stick with what I have. But of the light duty plows out there the homesteader certainly has the beefiest mounting setup I've seen. It's snowing right now and the old 89 is at home in the garage ready to go.

I drive a snowplow for a living in the wintertime.........

I can't imagine being able to do it with my truck. Be careful with your rigs, fellas. I can only speak for Iowa winters, but this shit is so hard on trucks it's ridiculous.

Say what you will, but when the snow is flying, I'll take a GMC 3500HD with the Western Wide Out any day. They are like tanks in the snow.....hate to say it but my work truck makes the Taco look like a Mini Cooper in the snow.

Anyway, congrats on the blade, have fun pushing snow (it's like being a kid again) and BE CAREFUL with it! My advice is to stick with areas you're familiar with........you get in a parking lot you've never seen with 8 inches of snow covering it, it's kind of hard to see parking blocks!

Very interesting about the plow. I glad to see it is possible, says good things about the truck. I have a large Honda snow blower with track drive. When I turn use it, women faint and men get hard. It is an excellent machine. I have had it about 10 years and it still starts on first pull everytime. No maintenence except oil change and spark plugs.
So I don't think I will be putting a plow on the truck. I would rather use the dedicated (and expensive even ten years ago) blower than beat up the truck, but that is just me.

Ha Ha. Didn't think Harpers Ferry had mountains...Its the lowest point in the state.

Congrats on the plow. Nice driveway.

Bring it over to Parsons and plow my driveway some day. Then we'll test it out.
