If I can get that kind of mileage out of this truck (200,000--300,000) then it will be the last truck I will need to buy. Only have 1073 mile noe..........long way to. I LOVE my Tacoma. Rides great. When you close the doors it sounds and feels tight.Just a GREAT truck!!

Great to hear OP! Did you ever hear any "piston slap" sounds from your engine? Mine makes the sound pretty bad and the dealer can't find anything wrong. I'm at 55k miles and wonder if longevity will be an issue...

:yay: That is always some of the best news to hear from 2nd Gen Tacoma owners. I'm just hitting 108,000 and am still shooting for 300,000.

I was just gonna mention the same thing- was gonna ask you, OP, if you've reinforced the motor mounts. I was reading about people who only did highway driving and the mounts still failed on them, leaving the engine leaning. My mount actually cracked through into the frame on mine during an offroad trip. Ruined the weekend lol.

I did nothing to the motor mounts an having no issues with them...and hope I never have to! lol

Piston slap? Yeah i suppose..when its cold I do hear it a little but goes away after reaching normal operating temp ( all of my 2nd gens did it)

leaks? No..the undercarriage is dry with no leaks at all.

transmission is fine..no slips or hesitations

When i did eventually switch to Mobil1..I did notice that the engine kinda came to life...I use the high mileage synthetic! 5w 30.

Im sure it would go to 300k without issues.. and Im working on it as we speak!

Congrats on reaching the 200k milestone! Sounds like your truck is running great.

I have 269k on my 2006 DC TRD OR and it is running great.

Big thumbs up! Just bought my brand-spankin-new 2012 home less than a month ago, and my goal is keeping it for 200k miles (or more). Which for me will be a LOOOOOONG time. If I keep my current driving habits up, I will do less than 9k per year.

I need to start going on more road trips if I want this truck to die before I do :p

Damn do I love this Tacoma.
