I have one on my Ranger and the Ford people said that it might, because of the oil envolved cause false trottle readings or screw up the computer. I had a problem on the Ranger with that. What about on the Tacomas anyone???? Thanks for your time...Rich P.S. I get about 1+MPG better with it..

Here's my AEM cold air intake. I love this thing (great sound) and never had a problem with the computer. Go ahead and get some kind of intake. A lot of Tacoma owners have them.

i was just taking a straight air filter. They told me the oil in the K+N filters causes problems with the sensors. Does the cold intake use that kind of system?

The AEM is a dry filter unlike the K&N POS.

Do they make the straight air filter? The K+N gives me better mileage, I worry about this oil- sensor question? This is a new 2007 Prerunner and I don't want to screw it up. Does AEM make something like K+N's oil air filter for better mileage?

I have the 63 series K+N Air Charger on my 07 PreRunner. I like it a lot, and it does make a difference with my 2.7/manual. Problems w/ the O2 sensor occur when people use too much oil on the filter.

Do they have a drop-in filter like the K+N one? That was an easy alternative, without the oil problem....Rich

    Rich,

Yes, AFE has oil less drop in filters as well as oiled drop in filters. I have found the Pro Dry S type (oil-less) available for sale two places online. The price is the same at either place, though one does have free shipping. The oiled type are for sale everywhere.

    Here are the particulars:

    AFE part number 30-10114
This is the oiled gauze type for the 4.0L V6
    UPC 80295930114
    Price $59.00

    AFE part number 30-10123
This is the oiled gauze type for the 2.7L I4
    UPC 80295930123
    Price $35.00

    AFE part number 31-10114
This is the Pro-Dry S (non oiled) filter for the 4.0L
    UPC 80295931083
    Price $44.25

    AFE part number 31-10123
This is the Pro-Dry S (non oiled) filter for the 2.7L
    UPC 80295931092
    Price $26.25

Here is where to buy from.
    http://www.afefilters.com/IntakeSytemstest.php
Enter your vehicle information in the dropdown boxes, (please note that they do not recognize the 2007 model Tacomas and that you will need to select your year as 2006). From there click on the filter you want, be sure that you select the correct part number for the type of filter (oiled or non-oiled), then click buy now. This site claims shipment within 3-5 days, but does charge $7.50 shipping.

    http://www.ultimatetruck.com/products/afe_pro_dry_s_oil_free_performance_oe_replacement.aspx

From here select truck and engine type, again remembering to use 2006 as your model year. This site offers free shipping, but says to allow 10-17 business days for shipping. For what it's worth I will be ordering from this site as I am waiting to begin my test of the eco-2 VPE device and do not want to introduce any other variables into the equation while compiling that data, so I have time to wait, so I may as well keep the extra $7.50 in my pocket.

For what it's worth in my search I also found this http://www.afefilters.com/gendesc.php?partno=54-81162 It appears to me that AFE makes the TRD intake, and it is available through them for $345.00 which I believe is a significant savings over the TRD intake.

Great stuff! Looks like I can add 50hp and 100 ftpds of torque to my 2.7L with just a new air filter (depending on application)!!! Yeah...I know.

Just as an update, the 10-17 days that was quoted for shipping was actually about 7-10, so that was just a bonus, but I would definately go with this company and save the $7.50 shipping. So the filter sits waiting to be installed at the conclusion of the VPE tests so as not to introduce any additional variables durring that time.

Thanks Adam! I ordered one from them today. Saved about $10 going with Ultimate Truck. They were about $3 cheaper than AFe's site, plus free shipping.

I just ordered one for my 2003 Ranger Super Cab V 6 and my 2007 Prerunner DC V6. Ultimate Truck has the year updated so you can dial in the 2007's , at least for that specific part(probably all for 2007 ) now to see how long, they say up to 17 days, most people here say 1/2 of that or less.........Rich _MG_8985_edited-1Large2_edited-1_e9d8eb792daae9b978c2a765d30461f0c8a287f0.jpg
