Hey guys, just looking for a few good recommendations. I currently have 2 17ft kayaks and they unfortunately are just too long for my current Overland setup to have them and the RTT mounted. Looking to move to something a bit small, day cruiser, good for lakes, rivers and ponds. Around the 12 foot range.

    Any ideas?

I would suggest a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 or 100.
    Start here:
    http://www.wildernesssystems.com/
I have a Commander 120 and Tarpon 120 and love them both. My wife has a Ride 115 and is selling for a Tarpon 100.

    These look nice.
Is your primary use for fishing?

Yes, but they are comfortable also. The cheaper you get the less comfortable they are. Look for a demo day near you, then you can ride them all in one day to compare. Demo Day will be held by your local kayak shop.

First of all...what s your weight , what do you plan on doing with it, fishing, just paddling/ pedaling ?
Jackson offers the Cuda, Cruise, Coosa, Coosa Hd...Hobie has the Outback and PA12, Wilderness System has a couple also.

175lbs. Plan on using it for general paddling and possible fishing.

Jackson Cuda or Coosa would be my first choice,,, can carry them on you shoulder if needed. The Cuda is fast.

    I mean… it’s a Ford, you don’t care
I have a future beach 10.5' I got a dicks. It's an angler model and can be scooped for just over $350. I like it and it's very stable, my brother liked it so much he went and bought one as well

I run an Ocean Kayak 13' Trident. It's bomb ass. Fast as hell and fairly stable. Can't sink it. You can flip it though, lol.

I just got back from bass pro and their in-house brand Ascend fishing kayaks are legit. Anything with a "lawn chair" seat usually signifies a price tag north of 1000. I have a wilderness systems ride 115 max angler with a lawn chair that ran me 1500. The Ascend 12ft was only $550. Wide open flat deck that looks very walkable. Best bang for your buck kayak I have ever seen.

    A few things
Just picked one up today, it's a pelican strike 100 angler. My buddy has the same one and loves it for ocean spear fishing. I have high hopes for it.

I have a Perception Rhythm 11. It's inexpensive and stable. Tracking is decent, very maneuverable, but quite slow for the size.
