So I got the 18” AluMax and needed to raise my Ikamper 1/2” to clear the fin. However Death Valley showed me that with the bed flex my iKamper would tap the fin a little, so I used 1” square tube and lifted the iKamper another 1/2” for a total of 1” from the 18” rack.

Thank you. Do you happen to know your overall height, from the ground to the highest point of the iKamper (when fitted to your 18” rack plus the 1” riser to avoid the fin rub)?

I’m wondering if I were to create the same set-up you have, if I could fit into certain parking ramps. May sound like a strange caveat for an overland set-up, but it’s something I’ll need to consider for my use.

    Thanks again.

I’ll measure later today, but I have about a 2.5” lift with my kings and Deaver Stage 2 leaf packs. So that will affect my height

Papadave418. Love ur bed set. Any chance do you have bed stiffeners on the bed? Do I need them for Rtt and diamondback cover?

Maybe jump on a thread dedicated to rack selection, as this thread is my solution for a tonneau cover and @KB Voodoo racks. The search function on TW works well to find what you are looking for, and less of what you call stupid and absurd.

I don’t have them and actually think my diamond back cover helps distribute the weight evenly. I put rubber pads under the rack mounts so that they sit on the cover in addition to being mounted to the rails. Again my off-road set up goes on and off but the cover stays.

This video is one of a few that made me decide on getting my Tacoma and the Diamondback cover.. working on doing other mods slowly for now. Just found this thread, did not realize you were on TW

Awesome! Glad it helped and hopefully you are having a blast with your truck. I’ve got so many dirt miles on my truck it’s been amazing, best decision ever :)

Does the sliding cargo tray have an accommodation to put a lock on it in the closed position?

It does, mine had a pin to lock it closed and then I ended up extending the tray with longer sliders which lock.

Thanks, do you think a padlock could be used in place of the pin? I'm thinking mild security for the stuff underneath in the bed if that makes sense.

Totally, you might need to drill out the hole a little bu it’s aluminum so that’s easy. And it would be difficult to get stuff out if the tray doesn’t slide

Excellent, that might be a good solution for keeping something like an expensive fridge from walking away.

I'm trying to decide if I should go with a set-up like yours or if I should go with a Decked drawer system (in lieu of the DB cover) and then use the 10" rack option to achieve an overall lower profile. With the custom drawers you've made and all the other modifications, did you ever weigh out the pros and cons of going with a Decked system and then customize from there? Thank you in advance.

After seeing a decked system in person I wasn’t confident I could use the space they provide fully. For work I am a medical device sales rep and often move totes full of literally 50k worth of implants IN EACH TOTE, so the DB cover gives me the security I needed and space. But if a decked system can fit your gear, a lower rack might work great. Odds are a lower rack will get you into a garage with a tent on. But you can’t have a long tent that goes over the cab, if needed. My set up on my truck ground to the top of my tent is 84”

You are quite the pleasant fellow, eh?
Any other opinions about states or truck uses with which you do not agree? Want to share where you are from so we can make wildly stupid generalizations about what type of person you are based upon the state in which you live? I’d love to come up with some dumb ideas, too.
Do I use my truck properly for you?
