Put your rear upright closer to the rear. I have the Alumax rack but the rear bracket is mounted closer to the tailgate. Although maybe the width there won’t work for you. It’s post #74 I believe that shows a photo

Appreciate the input. There is some good info on relocating it next to the canister with a button bolt so I might try that first.

For those considering buying a retrax to pair with this, if you plan on using an RTT you need to make sure to get no larger than a 2 person tent or go with a different tonneau.

Tepui recommends a gap of 32-48 inches for 3 person tents center to center. These bars with a retrax sit at 24 on my TRD pro.

Now, I haven’t been able to figure out why that is their recommendation. It either protects the base from bending (sleeping on the ends) or it ensures that the tent doesn’t tilt if you put too much weight on one side or the other.

It doesn’t look like moving the crossbars to be by the canister will help much either because the tent will definitely not be center.

The good news is that @Glenn_R has been using the setup with a ruggedized kukenum 3 for a few years with no issues. I shyed from the ruggedized due to weight restrictions, but I have to wonder if the diamond base plate has helped at least from a base bending aspect.

I’m going to roll with it for now; I have the Autana 3 and I plan to watch for bending, but I’m not really worried about all the bolts snapping and the tent tipping (which would be a terrible day).

So it does look like it would be possible to gain another 7 inches by replacing the cleat attached to the retrax rail with one that could fit over the crossbar mount. It would require drilling a hole through the mount and possibly a longer bolt but it seems like it would be at least a little bit safer for 3 man tents.

I wouldn’t even know where to begin with the cleat itself so I’ll leave it as is unless kb voodoo were to come up with something.

That's what I'm here for, the mods and the gear.
Hey everyone, wondering how you solved the break in tonneau cover seals where the brackets lay? Or has no one experienced any terrible leaking? Living in Wisconsin and no garage.

Hmm. I’ve got a bak revolver x2. To be honest it looks like I’d be able to roll most of it up. Even maybe clamp it down with a longer buckle towards the cab. But who knows wish someone had pics of a x2 revolver

I did the same. Any luck finding one that would work with the Lomax?

You think items that go in the basket that are higher than the roof would be any issues? Looking to do the same with a basket but debating between the HD bars and these.

As I said, I did the same but they actually told me they do not have proof it is compatible. I'm looking at those that are compatible and our Lomax looks similar to a Retrax cover in that it utilizes new rails...

The Lomax uses the stock bed rails without adjusting them. The problem is that the Lomax adds an additional rail that doesn't have room for the voodoo rack.

Yes, that's what I meant by utilizes new rails, unlike the oem or extang solid fold 2.0. If it works for the retrax, which kb voodoo says it does, I would imagine it would work for the Lomax.
