Well it looks like they are keeping the manual for the V6. Right now, that's the biggest thing that is making me want to get over the dumpy front end and buy a Taco instead of a Canyon.

It will undoubtedly be a special order in my area, but it's nice to see a manual on the top spec engine rather than the bottom.

Anyone else glad to see the M/T stick around?

    F**k YEAH!

I'd not buy it, if it wasn't for a manual with a V6. I pray DCSB config will be available with manual.

Very glad! 2 of my 3 vehicles are manuals but my Tacoma is the only one that isn't. I wanted it to be but I wanted the TRD Off Road package more and couldn't get both due to dealer availability at the time.

I thought they mentioned a "new" 6 speed manual?

They said it was an "all new 6 spd manual" so hopefully it's better than the 2nd gens shitty 6 spd...

Also just note that I highly doubt that offroad computer feature for crawling through different terrains likely isn't available for the manual trans. Unless they have the computer capable of operating the clutch as well but I kind of doubt that.

Makes me wonder if the TRD Offroad will only be available in an auto.

My guess would be that the crawling feature just isn't available with the manual.

I hope they got a better throw-out bearing than the 2nd gen transmission. I hope this is available in DCLB config unlike the current gen.

Based on the mule's pics from August it is indeed an all new or very heavily modified transmission. The thread contains some insightful analysis from a knowledgeable member about the tranny based on tranny's external appearance

Would be tricky to do a low speed crawl mode on a manual without an automated clutch.

I don't personally care if the manual has the crawl feature, but if a manual isn't offered on the TRD OR, it's a deal killer.

It is but there weren't any available when I bought mine. I edited my post to reflect that it was due to availability.

Completely agree. I wouldn't buy the new Tacoma unless a manual transmission was offered. This has to be the biggest relief in anticipation of the 16' taco. Weeeeeeeeee, manual for life!

I could care less myself as well. Mike Sweers mentioned hard core off roaders wouldn't be interested in the crawl feature but it could be helpful for those that are less experienced.

They did say the crawl feature is only on the auto.

It's true. For one thing, crawl takes the fun out of off roading, which kind of misses the whole point. It's not like most people accidentally stumble on a huge obstacle in daily driving.

I'm psyched they're keeping a manual. I just hope it's regeared and beefed up.

Yeah but then how are they gonna learn? We all learned with no fancy electronic gadgets. They should too. Never rely on electronics because you'll be up shit creek without them if they fail.

Never owned a truck with an automatic and I don't plan on every having one. I will buy old trucks if there is not other option. I now drive a 2006 Ram diesel because it's the only full size manual trans truck on the market. I would have a Tundra if I could get one with a 6 speed manual.
