That's not bad, I would sand it down best you can and throw some primer, and por15 or whatever that stuff is on it. That's what I intend to do with mine as well as rubberized undercoating.

Heck make a tool with a sanding block on a stick. Anything is better than nothing lol. You'd be surprised, then hit it with some grease like ya did and or other stuff and revisit it from time to time.

Smarter than I thought! Hahaha i'll definitely think about that when time will come to take care of it. Which means a little before snow, or after winter lol

Just changed my tires for the winter set. Truck is ugly af with those rusty steelies and stock tire size lol also changed greased the driveline, the non greasable balljoints (yes i did), blew air through the air filter and did the oil change. Oil change is step 2 the the oil burning cure. Oil burning cure step by step is coming in the next post

Oil burning/consumption cure. Recomanded by a trusty mechanic friend. Better try it than do nothing

Step 1 : Wait until you have 1000 to 2000 km left before oil change. Add half a bottle of Seafoam to your oil. Pour the other half in the intake while engine is running (in my case I used liquid seafoam for the oil and sprayed pressurized seafoam into the intake)

Step 2 : Do the oil change when due. Refill oil pan with regular oil, which is better for engines that burns oil. Roll the truck with that oil for 3000km. I used 5W-30.

Step 3 : Add half a bottle of Seafoam again in the oil, and the other half in the intake. Roll that mix for another 2000km.

Step 4 : flush oil at 5000km. Refill with what is recomanded for your engine. Gauge the oil once in a while to see if it is still burning oil. If not, congratulation, problem solved. If yes, then sorry, you have to try something else lol

I dont feel like doing it lol they are going to be rusty after a week in salt haha And I did score that 4runner alloys for cheap this summer. They are going to be my winter set after this winter. Steelies will be for sell for cheap

i'm trying to avoid that store haha

But yeah, engine oil for cheap, pb blaster and seafoam. I stayed away from the outdoor section since I spent enough for hunting and camping this year haha

I'm no mechanic but I don't see how seafoam would stop oil burning.

It would help if a ring is stuck with sout and other crap that is in our gas/ethanol mixture. If the ring is not completely worn out I could come out with a engine running like new

It’s all good. Stores these days just make it more convenient to buy...

I recall when I was married I used to hide my fishing lure expenditures at the grocery store. My local grocery store carries a lot of awesome stuff and what’s her name never knew :anonymous:

It can help with much more too. Unfortunately not enough for my wife's car as it's to late. Think I've got a stuck valve.

When I get fishing lures I do bring them right in the garage and put then in the tackle box haha gf will never know about them:rofl:
I'm at step 2 now. Just did the oil change this evening. Now to roll for 3000km... since I now have a DD for work its going to take long to do it. At least it is hunting season and I take it every week end on "long" distance lol
heard that automatic transmission fluid in gas was good to clean valves. But I think it is for diesel engines. I wouldn't try it lol

Nice! Yeah I'm to the point now where I have to take the head off and investigate the problem. More than likely have it taken to a machine shop and re done. Will be a big job, not happy about having to do it in the cold lol.

Head Gasket? I did that on my old Grand AM. Did everything but machine the head myself. If I had a mill I could do everything lol

Yeah I haven't had to do one before but isn't out of my capabilities. I'll have to take the heads in as well. Not excited about working in the cold though.

You're shorting your oil changes, 8000km is the spec for 2trfe. Which sucks even more because it means that even with short oil changes the rings screwed up

Yeah i am shorting it because I dont use synthetic, and I'll be good to do the 2nd "treatment" sooner. I have to know as fast as possible if I got it fast enough to save it. I was planning to do a lot of work on it this winter, mostly maintenance. But if the engine is going, i wont investas much as i thought i would and just trade it sooner for a DC. I dont want to get rid of the truck but I know I will have to, not enough room for 2 trucks, work van and gf car lol And I also don't want to mess with engine problems
