a bill just passed in Kentucky puting an additional .30 on a pack of smokes and a 6% tax hike on alcohol

 

Good thing I quit smoking... oh and that I don't live there...

 

Yeah. Smokes are edging near $6.00 at some liquor stores around here. But hey its Kalifornia. Where they steal your money and claim that "its for the children". Ive heard that the Cali cig tax has generated so much money that they simply ran out of things to do with it. There is several billion dollars just sitting in a dedicated account somewhere, and they still keep right on taxing us.

 

$10 a pack in NYC...I thought you made your own hooch in Kentucky?

 

These kind of taxes are referred too as Sin Taxes, they always pass these thinking no one will complain and then when people cut back the tax collectors whine about not getting enough tax revenue so they raise the taxes again.
They just aren't able to grasp the fact that the pockets are only so deep

 

or they just cross the river to Ohio and buy them here.

i didnt think that had passed yet. if it did, KY is now the highest taxed state in the union when it comes to alcohol.
