Are any of you are running Kenwood HU’s with Car Play? Can you post photos of it installed? Also pics of how Waze looks on the screen? Improved sound quality over JBL system? I just want to make sure this is the right route to go.

I can get some tonight. I owned a 2016 with JBL, my 2018 currently didnt have it. I have a Kenwood DDX6905s , and a 100w 4 channel amp powering Morel 690 Tempo Ultras in the front and Morel 602 Tempo coax in the rear. It sounds better than the JBL, no doubt about that. The head unit alone wont sound as loud as the JBL but if properly tuned with some decent aftermarket speakers it should sound better
    (not louder).

I didn’t realize that the HU loudness would take a hit from removing the JBL.

No pics yet, need to get a second camera since I cant keep waze open and take a pic at the same time.

The JBL system is amplified and it is "louder". I'm sure both systems reach similar loudness levels, I know head unit amps alone get pretty loud. The difference is the way it sounds at that loudness, the JBL will have more bass coming through the door speakers and it will get louder earlier, at lower volumes. You can get a better sound though with a Kenwood since it has a 13 band EQ and you can easily add an amp later to make up for the volume. The Kenwood also doesnt start cutting certain frequencies once you get above half volume.
