Kenwood dpx501bt

Hey everyone. Just wondering if anyone has this installed in their taco. If so, how do you like it? How big of a dash kit did you need? Was looking at going for a touch screen, but I feel like I'd get too distracted. Not to mention this deck has everything I need. Any input on how wiring went would be awesome as well. Thanks in advance!

I just recently installed a similar JVC / Kenwood deck with touch screen . Your steering wheel controls will function fine . Hardest part of the job is getting the new deck to fit back in with the additional wiring needed to replace the factory deck .

Thanks for the reply. Lucky for me I don't have steering wheel controls or have the need for a sound system. I had one in my old car and know the hassle so I've decided to step away from that.

As far as installing the head unit, is it fairly simple? Plug and play or having to splice wires and reconnect them with the head unit?

 

Trying to wire this up is a nightmare. I don't have the slightest clue where any of these wires go lol

 

Read the link i posted . It shows the additional wiring needed to install a kenwood reciever in place of the factory receiver and no wires to cut . Its all plug and play

 

So I couldn't figure it out. Searched kijiji and had a guy come up and install it for me. This guy knew what he was doing and thankful he came out to me. Turns out one of the wires needed to power the unit up was dead, so he ran a wire from one of the accessory fuses inside the trucks fuse box. It works, but now I have a check engine light on which im thinking could be from the airbag sensor being unplugged. If not, ill plug the scanner in from work and read the codes.
