King, Fox or ADS. All three use similar parts and are similarly quality built. King and Fox have been around for a long time and are very reputable. Fox being the "cheaper" shock in price but not in quality. King has always been more expensive then Fox. ADS is relatively new but they use top notch quality parts and have proven to be just as, if not more reliable then the other top shock companies. If I chose what I think is the best quality built shock I would get ADS. If I chose the best quality built shock for the price it would be Fox. If I chose based on pure rep and highest form of race proven over a very long time it would be King.

There's nothing "wrong" with icon. They are just geared towards "street trucks". Their digressive valving means that the shock will be stiff at low shaft speeds and get softer as speed increases. That makes for bad high speed stuff, hence why no pre runner guys are on icons. Adversely for slow speed stuff, as in rock crawling or slow trail riding, the shocks are too stiff for slow flexing and producing a comfortable ride. There seems to be a reason why the big shock companies use progressive valving. Not icon though. Also the fact that because of this reason, parts are icon specific and not as readily accessible as others where some parts are interchangeable between shocks. Then they are the most expensive shocks for this reason as well. None of it makes sense.

That's why I have Fox. There's plenty of people that are happy with icon, I just think it's cause they are so much better then stock or then whatever they did have. I've also seen plenty of people say that for street driving they found Fox or King to be stiffer then they liked and that icons were much better. I can see that but there's variables in that as well including valving, oil weight, spring rate, spring length and new vs used. Most people have off the shelf valving and in general it seems icon has pretty good dialed in street truck valving

    Update:

Got my new wheels on, 35's, and finished building my retrofits.

    727C1F83-2221-4B0E-82D7-AD80A5891450_zps_64c8989e4a91c4edc067cbc9fea7d780b9a4ad59.jpg

Now with the 35's I hate the way it drives, no power and even worse gas mileage. I'll be calling ECGS on monday to order some 4.56's and maybe a locker (haven't decided yet) so we'll see where that goes. Just sold my boat so I've got some money laying around and I'm trying to decide what I want to do :D

    Updated it.

But I transferred to a new Valvoline in Knoxville for school and there is this super jacked up parking spot and is perfect for flexing out the truck so I've been playing with it the last couple of days and these pictures are with about 2" left until the bumpstops touch. I should probably trim my fenders, huh?

Probably ........ Yes. Haha I had a dream last night that I saw you pulling in a neighborhood and I followed you and we ended up at a big mud pit area with a bunch of atvs. I let you drive my truck through this swamp and you buried it up to the windsheild. Then we had to get 6 atvs to hook up and pull you out. Lol

Those are in the plan for soon! But thanks, the emblems were the first white on the truck and I liked the color contrast so much that I bought wheels that color! Lol.

Ordered a full rear-end set up. All-pro expo leaf packs, extended brake lines, Fox 2.0 shocks, and U-bolt flip kit.

Should be here and on within a few weeks. Will update when that happens.

Got the All-pro Expos and everything on. Sits damn near level now. Love the way it rides and looks except my driveshaft is giving me a fuck ton of problems now. But, I got ahead on bills and have some money saved up plus I'll have a full month of working 40-50 hour weeks through December so I'm gonna do the front end now. Should be picking up some Fox 2.0 RR coilovers, Camburg UCA's, and Maxtrac spindles for the front. Whenever those go on, I'm gonna do inner and outer tie rods, new brake pads and rotors, and hopefully new hub bearings as well.

And no, the extended brake lines weren't in at this point. Just disconnected the bracket and bent the lines so we could take the truck to the shop and weld my bumpstops on. The extended ones are in now.

Got the driveshaft fixed, had it cut and a slip added to it right after the 2nd ujoint along with all new ujoints throughout it. I'll be picking up the fox 2.0s and camburg uppers thanksgiving weekend, gonna send the fox's off to be rebuilt and have new ball joints pressed into the uppers. I'm getting the brakes for Christmas and will be ordering the maxtrac's whenever someone has a sale on them for Black Friday or Christmas. New inner and outer tie rods will be purchased thanksgiving weekend then installed once I have everything else back in my possession.
