Tried reprogramming key FOB and replaced battery, still doesn't work. Any ideas or do I need a new fob?

I found this one on Amazon. Its a little tricky to get it into programming mode, and you will look like a moron doing it, but with a little patience you can save some big time $ over going through a dealer. Mine has worked flawlessly for 6 months. Cant beat $ 29 shipped.

Looks like they've raised the price to $43 for a new one in the last few months. You can get used Fob's on Amazon for under $25, but you might be better off springing for an unused one.

Bought truck used with 8000 miles only received one key and FOB. I tried reprogramming several times and now it will lock but not unlock. Appears to be a programming glitch.

Mine didnt work when I bought the truck. I replaced the battery and tried re-programming it with no success. I took it apart just out of curiosity, and it looked like maybe moisture had gotten in there and ruined it. Its pretty ridiculous what they want at the dealer for a Key Fob.

Just for info. My key fob stopped to work other day. I thought no problem, it is battery. Went to CVS next to my house and bought 2 batteries. Replaced no working battery and went out to try key fob. Nothing. I was WTF now, then I found instruction here (thank you) how to reprogram key fob and did it. Wow key fob started working and only first day car was making sound when I lock it. It didnt do that before, so I was thinking about to try reprogram key again but next day sound stopped and now everything is as before.

Thank you everybody for posting instructions it was funny all those opening and closing door but worked at the end.

Dude, you rock! My dad lost one of his keys and one of his fobs. Then one fob quit working, and even after battery replacement it stayed that way. He went yesterday and bought a new spare key and a fob, and had given up on the old non working fob. I ran across your post and tried the reprogramming in the link you posted for his old fob and it worked! Just wanted to say thanks man.

I have three (keys and fobs), recently bought 2 new ones (keys and fobs) on ebay, had dealer reprogram and cut at oil change, they only charged me $10 each(set) to do so. I think that I bought the sets for combined $24. So I guess I am saying I would not fight it, I'd just take a hammer to it and get replacements.

mine stopped working the other day but it was cuz I was pissed and threw my keys against a wall. The fob busted into pieces so I went down to a place called Batteries Plus and handed him the innards was about all I could find of the fob, he rooted around in a box and found a used fob, took it apart and put my innards in and it worked like nothing had ever happened... lucked out!! ;)

Just throwing out some additional info if a program doesn't fix somebodies issue. when I bought my truck used the one fob would unlock fine, but the lock was very intermittent, and lots of times just wouldn't work. I ended up taking the fob apart and found the little micro switch on the cicuit board for the lock button wasn't connected properly anymore on a couple of the contacts. with some careful soldering was able to securely re-attach it to the circuit board. years later and it still works like a champ.
