    Hi All –

I am looking for some cool wheeling trips to take my kids on with some other dads from my daughters school. I am thinking about planning a trip in the spring and a few more in the summer. I have done a lot of wheeling when I lived in SoCal, and I have run the Rubicon and Dusy in my FJ40. I am not looking for anything as hardcore as the Rubicon and Dusy, just a trail I can take the stock Tacoma down with out rocker damage and have some fun. I took the kids to Pismo Beach this November and they loved it.

    Requirements:

Trail difficulty: moderate, passable with one locker and 33” tires

Location: within a 5-hour drive of San Rafael, CA

Camping: Has camping either primitive or an established site

    Nice to have:

    Camp fires

Water - a lake or stream

Not a lot of people around

Please feel free to direct message me if you would like to keep your favorite spot on the down-low, I total get that.

Maybe at least a week w/o rain. If you stay at the lower parts like around the airfield it's great. if you venture further up, it'll get muddy, it might turn to ice at night, and you'll slide off the mountain. but i mean, if you're looking for adventure, to each their own.
