probably not needed if the key has an RFID immobilizer

    but extra protection won't hurt

Interesting that thread talks about dealer installed alarm system. Do the trucks not have one? Mine has a square like that but velcro'd on, and flashes a blue LED when locked. The horn goes off if anything happens to the truck. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
    Bought the truck used.
Kind of sucks now that if I want to get in there and do any wiring stuff (like kill switch) I have to figure out what the heck is even going on different from a factory wiring diagram. It's a bird's nest of cheap crimp connectors.

@elioregon I installed a fuel pump kill switch on my 07. Prior to installing the kill switch I was pulling the fuel pump relay. Kind of a pain and not very inconspicuous as to I was doing. I installed mine as a theft deterrent and piece of mind when I park at a trail head before heading off on my dirt bike for a few hours.

    Here's a link to what I did. 226364

One time I pulled my fuel pump fuse or relay under the hood when I went away on a long trip.
Then when I came back, I forgot to bring with me, and couldn't drive the truck. So I jumped it with a paper clip and went home.
Which I guess defeats the purpose

They claim nobody has had a vehicle stolen that has one installed. They are the best of the best, with that said I haven't forked out that kinda cash yet LOL

The connection to the pins has to wear out at some point. I’d be interested to talk to someone who’s had one for a few years

A kill switch has limited success. Less if you pay someone to do it. Thieves are experts at finding them.

The best I’ve seen are mounted where you would least expect, and someone watching you jump in and start your car can’t see you reach for it. One I heard of, the guy put a micro switch under and against the dash. So push in on the dash to close the switch to start.

I’ve had vehicles stolen and broken into. So an alarm is a must. I know people will shake their finger at me but I can sleep without worry. I’ve never had an issue except for my first alarm. I think it was a radio shack silly thing. Key switch in the fender, motion sensor and door pins. When triggered the horn blew til the battery died.

My cars stay in a garage and when they go out I'm not in far range, but people get creative. On my old 84 s10 blazer I wired a kill switch in series with the ignition so that you had to hold it down while cranking, that switch was in the ash tray. What thieves want is something quick to steal, so even if it just delays them a bit, it can prevent your car from being stolen. Creativity is your friend, possibilities are endless, it always makes me laugh about people asking online where to wire one. While I'm at it I can tell you the pin number for my ATM and combo for my gun safe.
