So I just installed a complete set of King 2.5's (used) today and I'm pretty sure that the front of the truck is lower than before the swap (previously had spacers).

Would anyone know how far I would need to adjust the collar on the coil to get near 3"?

Is there a chart that can correlate where the collar sits to how much lift you gain?

I have 600lb coils atm and the driver side collar has significantly more preload than the passanger side. I've tried to find an answer via the search tool but I haven't found a clear answer.

This isn't a fantastic picture, but you can see the way mine are set. DSM preset them for me to match with the rear setup I have (Dakar Leafs) and I sit right over about 3" of lift.

Oh, and I came from the Rough Country 3" Lift Kit Spacer on the front before, this setup on the Kings raised my truck about 1/2"

Be careful adjusting. I was going to adjust mine slightly while on the truck because I have the 700# springs but no armor as of right now. When I was adjusting I didn't get fully into one of the slots because the mount was in the way and it started to put stress marks around the slot. I quit adjusting at that point and just left it. So just be careful lol, or adjust it when it's off the truck so you can make sure to get the tool fully into the slot.

@stronghammer , I just installed my king 2.5's and dakkars last weekend. My instructions stated 5 turns per inch. Iam showing 1.75 inches of thread and it looks like I have about 3-3.5 in front. Truck sits nearly level. How much thread do you have showing? I only did 13 turns which should = just over 2.5, think springs need to settle? My apologies OP if this is thread jacking.

Unfortunately you're going to have to take them off of the truck to adjust them. Unless you can make a custom tool to reach the holes.

OP, so I am the new guy so take it for what it's worth but.....I just adjusted on my truck 3 full revolutions, removing preload, with the supplied punch-like king adjustment tool. Let me just add that I in no way suggest anyone to be wrong on this. The holes each side of the pinch bolt were extremely close to inaccessible but mine went with the tool at full depth in the holes. Your decision, I just got my alignment and was willing to give it a try before separating my upper ball joint and starting over on my alignment.

I didn't actually measure my threads showing, I can later if I remember. Mine came preset by DSM to what I needed, see pic above.

If you get a chance post your measurements, may help another member. I have already removed preload and may remove more. Talked to King tech support yesterday and I was nearly topped out. Apparently I got height happy on install even though I swore I wouldn't...oops. Did confirm that 5 revolutions of collar should equal an inch. Iam now at 10 turns above factory preset but believe 8 may be a good # for height and good function. Thanks!

Just found this which is helpful. Looks like we have almost the same setup I am about to install. I need to confirm if they preset my setup or not. I am guessing they were not from King. Do you have a picture of your setup @Mudfootshuffle?

Another thing to consider is as you add pre load the spring becomes stiffer and dose not have the same amount of travel. Less preload and a higher rate spring can be better preforming than a softer spring with more preload. Also a tip on setting preload use a floor jack under the UCA to help compress the spring as you add preload makes it a lot easier to turn.

How is it easier if the spring is now exerting more load upward against you?

I just want to know since I always left it at full droop when adjusting.

Full droop, brush threads and a tiny bit of Tri flow ftw. Curious if anyone has the billet spanner offered by King for 2.5s and how they like it.. . .

Always forget that kings are backwards compared to Fox SAW Radford FOA ect and they put their preload spacer above the spring.

was this photo the height you have currently? Looked through the album and saw the other photo that showed it really cranked up (or down). The height setup looks good on the truck. I have the same setup, I am about to install after the new year.

How are you guys holding the coilover off the truck to adjust preload? I just got my 2.5 with 700lb springs and there is only about 1/2" of threads showing. wanted to crank on them a bit before install then fine tune on the truck.

I adjusted prior to putting on the truck and used a spring compressor. You can try borrowing the cheaper tools from places like auto zone. I used to do that adjusting coils on other cars. Haven't yet with the Tacoma.

Branik spring compressor. One of the best things I ever bought. Can also make a little money swapping coils for people.
