Ok guys got a general question for you, any ideas of what I need to look at to repair my truck would help me out a bunch. So im in my truck raising hell in the rain. Im burning tires off and taking off sideways to have fun. I was trying to throw the truck down to first gear when coming to a yield sighn so i could sling it sideways and I ground the gears pretty bad because i accidently ran it into reverse. Nothing seemed to happen really then, i just backed off and ran it into fist and continued on to playing. I drove a couple more miles and as i was turning into a parking lot there was a very noticable knocking sound coming from the back of the truck. loud metal on metal knocking sounds. The truck only makes the knocking noise if it is in second gear, and i have the gas floored. If i drive it and shift normal, and take off gradually building speed it makes no sound at all. Does anyone have a clue were i should start to figure out what i have broken. Im guessing i broke something off inside the rear end. Not sure exactly were the sound is coming from, but it's from the back part of the truck for sure. maybe chipped a gear or something? I have 35x12.50x20 mud tires and wheels and a 6" pro comp sups lift, and my turck is a 6 speed manual. The lift killed my acceleration, and second gear has been taking a toll. I drive in a city mostly and have to be able to get up and go. Im not truck smart at all, simply trouble shooting so i can take the truck some were to have it looked at. Thanks guys
I will get back to you with more info later, and keep the post updated

well thanks for the info and site, I wasn trying to be bad ass lol. I was being a dumb ass and fucking around. obviously i fucked up, and i deserve what I get. We are all twenty years old once in our lives. I dont want to argue about the quality of my lift. Im sure you know way better than me on that one. I was wanting to do something to help the truck take off better anyways since the tires kill my acceleration and wear my stuff out way faster. What could I do to help my truck out as far as preserving the tranny and clutch and fix the problem at the same time, since I already screwed up the diff most likely? I figure it needs a lower gear anyways. Im looking for your advice. what would you do to make the truck better now. besides replace the lift because it sucks hahaha. thanks man

If it is the ring and pinion gears are jacked up, what would be the best gear ratio to replace the torn up one with, to help my truck take off better?

4.56 or 4.88 gears but don't forget to get a matching set for front diff since your are 4x4

LMAO!!... Enjoy the lesson in class "Pay to Play 102". Its the class that follows "Driving like a douche bag 101", which is what you were doing if you were running amok on city streets.

Considering your apparent lack of automotive knowledge, I would say that you could NOT do it your self. BTW, if you change the gear ratio in the rear, you also have to change the front to match. good luck.

just money. sucks for sure to have to pay, but i wanted to re gear the truck any ways so it just made me take the leap to go ahead. No worries about the money. Obama makes sure daddy keeps a fat pocket from deployments to middle east. Thanks to you guys tax dollars ill have new gears in no time.
