Hey everyone, I noticed you can buy 2 versions of the KO2 in C load in 285/70r17:

    116/113Q - 51 pounds
    116/113S - 58 pounds

The latter is the same weight as the E load! I called BFG and they said the "S" version is discontinued. I guess the only difference is the speed rating... Q is at 100mph, and S is at 112mph. What are all you guys running if running C load?

    That's a good question, I'm interested too

Just looked it up on Tire Rack...

    upload_2020-5-13_13-52-9.jpg

The first 2 are C-load, black or white letters
The 3rd is the E-load you'd want, not sure why the make the no-3PMS version
the last one is the 113S version the OP is asking about...

I definitely want C load, just don't know which version to get. The thing is, the "S" version, which only has a difference in 12mph, and max PSI of 60 (rather than 50) is 7 pounds more which is the same as E! I'm guessing most buy the 116/113Q on here? The lady from BFG said they discontinued the S version.

From what I know the "DT" tread is a harder rubber compound that will last longer. Of course that means its not as good in bad weather

One is an OEM tire. The other is a replacement tire. I'm guessing the S was the OEM. The manufacturer probably specified a 60psi inflation requirement and that is what they made. I would imagine they achieved that from an extra ply. Pretty much exactly what the do to get to the E load range. My plies = more weight and higher max air pressure. Looking at those tires you see they are the same weight. So you would be getting a E load range tire that they label as a C. Silly when you think about it.

They make the no-3PMS version because the KO2 doesnt do well on gravel roads durability wise (cut and chip). They had to give up traction for durability.

You can run them up to the max PSI which should be 50psi cold. The only time you would want to do that is when you are loaded. The rest it really depends on your comfort. Just don't go below what is listed on your placard. Your truck rides on air. The tires just hold it in place. Higher pressure = harsher ride, but cooler tires which means they last longer. Lower pressure = better and more comfortable ride, but they will run hotter. Of course there are performance considerations as well with various pressure. The simple answer is this isn't Nascar or Formula one. You won't notice the difference in a few psi so run what feels comfortable to you.

Yeah, I did more research and actually the OEM is the Q version, which is pretty much all that they will make going forward in C I believe. BFG made them with Jeep for the new Rubicon... most likely to save weight. BFG CS rep said the S looks to be discontinued. So the S version I imagine is just older. If you go on the BFG site now, they don't even list the S version... just the Q and the E.

depending on how much use and where you got them... just call and ask for a swap to Q. Discount tire did it for me, but I never installed them so it was a free swap and they sent me FedEx shipment labels. The S is def a little beefier and rated higher with the speed rating if that matters to you. I just don't need it and Q is fine.

Yea, was my error for not looking more closely at the specs, i thought the speed rating was the only major difference. I just talked to their customer service, they ended up changing the warehouse they shipped from so they shipped last night instead of what the site showed as shipping on 12/12. They did offer to split the return shipping with me, but i'll just keep them and run them.

Is the S version really 58lbs? I just bought the S version because they were cheaper and didn't realize the 2 versions had a weight difference. The shipping weight is 51 lbs, so I guess I'll find out for sure on Monday!
