Ironically I tried talking a customer at Dark Horse out of buying a 3rd gen yesterday. Told him to buy a T4R.

SERIOUSLY! This is why it's nice to be dating someone who is A. also a firearms instructor, but who has infinitely more knowledge on the subject than I do, and B. owns a whole lot more pistols than I do, none of which are the same.

Do you still have your rear diff skid in place? If yes have you taken it off and driven without it recently. Wondering if it could be amplifying otherwise normal diff sounds.

    Goods news and bad news.

Dropped the truck off this morning to have driveline inspected by an actual driveline repair shop. Carrier bearing looks great. Driveline angles look really good and the tech noticed the OME carrier bearing shim was in place. Driveline was perfectly balanced at the transfer case and carrier bearing. Slight imbalance at the pinion. He removed the balancing weight and put a lighter one on and said it is "dead nuts" now.

Bad news: He does not believe the driveline could have caused my pinion bearing issues and said it was pretty close to being balanced to begin with.

They are going to get the stethoscope out and listen to the diff again while out is up on the lift.

    I know right??

    Update:

    Rear wheel bearings sound quiet.
Rear diff sounds quiet with no load on it while on a hoist.

Can still hear it on the road.

Asked them to put it back on a hoist in 4H and listen to the front wheel bearings and diff.

Going to pick up in about 30 minutes. Called them. They haven't had time to put it back on the rack yet. Gonna try to do that before I get there.

Front end quiet. Definitely rear diff making the noise.

U joints good. When bearings sound good. Front diff sounds good.

Have not even tried. Took Lisa weeks before she could hear it. LoL So far every tech that has driven or ridden in the truck has heard it.

You can hear it best in the cab with the windows rolled up all the way. After much time with the stethoscope the long time driveline guy in town says it is the rear diff. He says it sounds like gear whine to him.

Maybe if I remember I'll try to get it on the Gopro on my drive to work tomorrow.

Sticky mount a GoPro to the back of the diff. Any noise should come through that way for sure.
