Got the diamondback cover installed, the new headlights, bed lighting, and fogs mostly in. Didn’t get around to keyless entry and I bought the wrong fuse tap to get my fogs working. The internal fuse box has some weird fuse I haven’t seen before.

Did you get the bars even?? Is it normal for bars to be slightly un-even? Or was something wrong with what you ordered?

Here’s the bed lighting. I got 8 stick-on LED pods from Amazon and mounted them under the railings. Hung the wires between pods using stick-on clips. The wires were run through a very small hole in the bed and run to a flush-mounted switch. All the terminal wiring is done between the bed and the fender so it’s all hidden. I removed the rear cubby when plugging the wires in to have ample work space. Switch works when engine is off.

Yep! Pretty easy. I have a long bed so there’s no special adapters in the kit. Just the cover, four clamps, and four shocks. It’s not waterproof, though. There’s a open slot on each side of the Tacoma beds closest to the cab. I’m looking at ways to seal it with putty or something. Not the covers fault, just the Toyota design.

Keyless entry installed today. Fine-tuned headlights and fog lights. Here’s how she sits on 10/27/19 at 3,670 miles:

Very far from a base model now. Just need to get a bed mat and it’ll be done for a bit. Bed bars should be in on Tuesday so I can mount my tent again.

Put my bed bars on last night. These should hold up really well with my tent. I’ll get the tent mounted tomorrow and then it’s off to the woods this weekend.

They're a pretty decent sized piece of shit:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-2005-2020-Toyota-Tacoma-Access-Cab-3-5-Running-Board-Nerf-Bar-Side-Step-BT/223647720167?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

The design flaw is that they only utilize 1 bolt to mount to the area closest to the engine. The true predator steps use 2 and are more solid. The cheapos work and get the job done, but if there's any "rotund" friends jumping in and our of the truck you might want to get something else. I'm looking at sliders for next year.

Keyless is pretty straightforward if you follow the directions. There's a bunch of t-taps and I think 1 wire you have to strip. I had to disconnect the headlight tap because it triggers your high beams. It's wired correctly so it's just by-design I guess. I'll try to figure out a way to tap into the low beam circuit when I stop being lazy.

It was a tough season but I helped my dad grind out a nice Roosevelt bull. Excuse his 37’s making my 33’s look like donuts.

    Alright small update:

5,000 mile service got done. I had them use one of my free oil changes and just do one at 5,000. I'll have them do it again at 10,000 and then 20,000, etc. I just can't sleep at night if they let a new engine go without changing the oil for 10,000 miles. I lost 1 free oil change over the next 2 years -- so be it.

Victory 4x4 Access Cab rack got ordered and will be here Tues. I got the one without a light bar because I hated the hood glare on my jeep when mounting a bar on the roof. We'll see what the rest of the holiday season brings my truck!

Nice build! I bought a SR for the same reason... it's a blank slate.

By the way, which KB Voodoo Hi Rise Crossbars did you get? Steel or aluminum? I have tonneau cover too and have been looking for crossbars that will work with my cover.

    Thanks!

I got the steel version because of my roof top tent. From what I understand the aluminum version isn’t sturdy enough.
