Got laid off in October myself. Found a job 3 weeks ago. Had two of my older jobs call me back asking me to work again.

Shit comes full circle. Be patient and the world will balance once more.

Either that or we find you on the news in a bell tower picking off targets of opportunity.

well that sucks, but at least you have experience for when you look for another job. thats the most frustrating part of job hunting is finding jobs you are qualified to do but dont have the experience to even get an interview. 5 years with the same place looks good on a resume

I'm assuming here that people getting laid off & being all casual about it have minimal obligations to cover or you actually saved up 6 months of pay so you have time to chill & regroup? Nice if so & I'll agree with the earlier advice but if you got family, mortgage & full load of what most people cart around then it ain't time to take trips & be all chillin. Hopefully folks aren't in that bind & can take time to destress & regroup. Good luck to all who have been let down this way. Sux, you're supposed to be all commited & all then they drop you like a hot rock without any regard to anything. Ball sweat lickin limp dick ass backwards bullshit!!! No I haven't yet been done this way now & am in a better position this time but have been downsized, reorged & basically fucked outta my job after 7-8 yrs for the company's benefit more than a couple of times. I was raised back in the day where you got a good job you liked & could live comfortably off of & you hung in there & retired 30-40 yrs later with a kick ass pension/retirement. My parents where the last generation to be able to do that. It's a shitsuckin way of bein screwed out there nowadays. Extra suck is the asshole buttkisser do nothing problem people suckin up to mgmnt are the ones that get ahead instead of the dedicated people actually carrying the workload. I hate it, so assbackwards & unmotivating! Sorry for the rant, can't stand when folks don't reap what they sew, good luck to all that are in search mode. Hope everyone lands in a better place than they were.....................

damn, why don't you tell us how your really feel...but I agree somewhat with what you said.

Don't be afraid to move, get into another field of work and ask everyone you know about jobs. Jobs are few and far between and its only getting worse. If you need the money take what you can get and tighten up your belt and lose the wants and stick to the needs in your budget.

Hell working on the crab boats or cruise ships doesn't look all that bad if you can pull in some serious coin and then come home and keep looking for work every couple weeks.

Well, I have a raw nerve about all the misplaced injustice goin on in this world & the ones needing to be the victims of their own shit shitting on innocent folks just trying to go about their business making their way & doing what they're supposed to. Why is it that live by the sword die by the sword ain't holdin up any more? Those doin the screwin should be the ones ending up screwed instead of those doing shit the right way. And on the flipside of that is....I'll always find another path doin somethin else & keep going, no layin down, no nothin but keep going.

Like others said, enjoy a couple weeks and don't sweat it. Things will turn around for you for sure and you'll be back to work in no time.

The only thing that scares me is government involvement in this economic mess. They have no clue what they're doing and will make it worse. For reference, see FDR's New Deal. EIGHT YEARS after he introduced it we came out of the Great Depression and only because of WWII. Anyone who thinks government can fix this mess is delusional.

Have a beer and Breathe. These layoffs SUCK and are a crock of shit, but nothing us ants can do "directly". Just keep your cool, and take some time to be inventive. Soak up some creativity so you can juice up your resume and win the next job!

The most difficult job a man will have is finding another job after having been laid off. Have faith in God first, your skills second, and don't be an island. Engage yourself. People help people, just like they do on this board. Even though unemployed, reach out to help others. You will feel good about yourself and good things will happen.
