When I put some new 265/75/16s on my truck when I first got it, the tires rubbed on the frame. Maybe it's because yours was a reg cab or my bfgs are more aggressive tread? Here's a VERY old thread with my tire rub issues lol.

After I put on small wheel spacers the problem went away. It still rubbed inside the fender well a little still but it wasn't that big of a deal and it was probably because my front coils were completely shot.

yea I guess it all depends on the circumstances...like tires and body style I guess. But I had no rubbing at all.

I am also running 265/75/16s and the only rubbing issue I have is because the plastic liner that is bolted under the wheel well keeps coming a little loose and it rubs a little. I just have to tighten a bolt every once in a while and it doesn't rub anymore. Oh and my coils are also in pretty bad condition, so that probably doesn't help much.

I don't recall my MT's rubbing in that size, but I didn't really wheel it either. the BFGs on my new wheels (slightly different BS from stock) rubbed the fender liner until the lift. It wasn't bad though.

Light bar and bumper guard, 3/16 steel skid plates for engine, tranny and transfer box, OME 881 springs with 5100 shocks at mid clip. AAL in rear. Positraction rear diff.
The stock tires are either P or LT265/70R16 which is a 31 inch tire. You can use a LT265/75R16 which is a 32 inch tire. To go any larger you would need a lift and a wheel spacer or different rims. Stock rims are 7 inches wide with 6 lugs on 5.5 inch spacing but the off set is too wide to use a wider tire since it will rub the upper ball joint unit thus requiring a wheel spacer or different rims for the front wheels. The stock rims in the rear are OK for large tires. The recommended rim for a LT285/75R16 tire (33 inches) is 7.5 inches but most tire shops will put them on a 7 inch rim. The advantage of a 7 inch rim over a 7.5 inch or larger rim is that it acts as a poor mans bead lock when you air down the tires.

My tires rub on the frame, to the rear of the suspension. Driver side rubs a little worse (more paint worn off).

I have 265/75R16s now, and I'm getting 70's when these are done (soon)...

I have 2004 V6 TRD 4X4 extended cab. For some reason my stock 265/70/16 BFGs would rub on the chasis (enought to remove paint). Replaced stock rims with Mickey Thompson 16x8 on 3.5" offset. Still rubbed. Upgraded to 265/75/16 Goodyear duratracs and 2.5" Bilstein 5100s. Still rub at full turn and have to remove mud flaps to offroad. Tires just rub on this truck unless you are willing to start trimming plastic and metal.

Since you're looking at wheels as well, don't get anything other than the stock backspacing on 265/75r16 without a plan to lift the ride height and beat down the pinch weld. You'll rub like a mofo.

This thread is old as hell but heres a guide to fitting tires without lift

31s- with no modification (i mean... 31s were a factory option)

32-33s- with basic trimming and pinch weld mod (average guy can do with basic tools)

35s- inner fender tub aswell as outer fender trim (skilled guy with welding/metal working experience required but quite doable)

37s- cutting fucking everywhere and lots of tears(the handful of people that have done it have to be questioned for their sanity)
