Semi off topic, but I want to get ahead of rust and hit the frame with fluid film. I've looked around and can't find a clear list of other places to spray, and places to not spray. Can you guys drop some knowledge on me?

My '05 Trd is in for frame replacement and this pro 4x is my rental for the next 8 months. That is how backed up Toyota is on 2nd gen frames. There are 13 frames to be replaced before mine at my local dealer alone! I told them take your time!

I'm sure anyone close to the ocean has the same problem as us northerners, warm weather is what makes the salt bad. If it stayed cold, even with the salt these frames would not rust. When the weather warms up above freezing you better be washing your frames off with cold water.

Spray everything, and by the extension wand if using the spray cans. Inside body panels, tailgate, frame rails, and any where that salt or mud can sit.

I would say the best way to get a Tacoma is to lease one, guaranteed you won't have a rust problem then.

Thanks. Didn't think about getting in the body panels.

Leasing a Tacoma is a good option as the buyouts at the end are always a few thousand less than the trucks value.

It's almost best to take it to a fluid film application garage first. Unless you have all the various extension wands and such to get into all the areas. You can buy a kit from fluid film for around $100

The problem must be with parts availability then. Depending on the size of the shop, 13 frames would only take a couple weeks to swap.

Yes the parts are that far out right now. It's a 2-3 day job once the parts
    Arrive.

I'm in Georgia, and I haven't found anyone that does it locally. I probably don't really need it since we only get road salt once or twice a year tops, but fluid film is so cheap why not do it.
