I keep trying to find a comprehensive comparison between your rack and the 200.
I'm not sure about this, but I think The 200 works fine with long travel (which I have) and I can just use the inner tierods with boots. I'm not very clear on how your rack seals up after it's modified, but I don't want open ends on my daily here on the East coast. I also like that, if it breaks, i can just go pick up another 200 rack and slap it in. I'd love all the input I can get, from both sides of the argument.

without changing the spindle points it’s still not correct geometry it’s just not as bad as if you are stock width. That’s why mike was able to get back normal geometry is because he designed his rclt spindles with the lc200 rack geometry. And if your running normal tie rod ends on your truck you can just run tundra tie rod boots.

Wait, so you can run the stock tierod setup on the modified rack? I mean stock tundra tierods and boots?

The modified tundra rack uses tacoma tie rods so yeah you can run stock tacoma tie rods and some tundra boots.

OK, so what are the major downfalls for each rack?

I have no experience with the lc200. The only “downfall” that I’m aware of for the tundra rack is a decreased turning radius over a stock rack (idk how the lc200 compares) and you can’t put in an off the shelf replacement in the event of an (unlikely) failure.

I really appreciate all the info, and welcome anyone else's input. My rack has jumped a tooth, but it's not leaking yet. Sooner or later I'll have to replace it and I'd like be able to make an educated decision.

Stock tundra ties will not work, the rack gear does not have enough meat in it to machine the tundra tie thread size back into it, it needs the smaller thread size of the taco tie. We couldn’t even use the 4Runner ones which are between the tundra and taco in size.

    From my research
    Benefits of the LC200 rack
    Cost of the rack
Can be swapped with oem part and no modification to the rack

    Downfalls compared to the tundra
    Some people get some bumpsteer
Not good for stock width trucks

For me the easier ability to replace the rack if it does fail and the low cost at the time of the OEM rack out weights the chance of some bump steer in specific situations..

My doors are the only stock things left besides the headlights
Everyone is on point with the info.
I'll only add that in the event of a seal failure for the tundra racks whether you get one from me or solo motorsports, I will reseal one for for cost plus time and a quick as possible turn around usually within a week total.
And I do have a pile of old tundra tierod boots that I can provide if requested. Personally I don't run boots and haven't had a seal issue yet. Rack has been in there for a couple years now no issues and has been a guinea pig for my recent research for flowrates and pressures from adjusting a really high flow howe pump on my truck lol.

Hey Travis is the comment a few before correct about not being able to go to 4 runner sized bolts? That doesn’t make sense to me but would be nice to do with the camburg clevis’s but so far haven’t had an issue with my Tacoma ones so maybe I’m over thinking it…lol

Tundra is 24mm, 4Runner is 22mm, taco is 14 or 16mm, I don’t remember off hand. The issue is the rack gear is now at the edge of the rack whereas the stock Tundra rack has some unmachined bit to it at the edge, and the larger ties would not leave enough material to thread into.

If you get an LC200 steering rack, you will wear out your tires fast due to geometry issues, unless you have suspension such as the RCLTHD which sounds like you don’t or else you wouldn’t even be asking this question. I suggest going with a Tundra rack. I’m certainly going for it in the near future and add that new Heim tie rod set by JD fab.

Yes that's correct...theres not enough meat left on the driver's side of the rack gear to machine a hole that big.
I'm on tacoma sized inner clevis bolts...haven't broke or even bent one yet

I have been running that same setup all summer and it has been great. Get to keep the tundy boot too which was huge in my book.
