So i went in for my 10k service. I had them check a couple things including the LCA howling noise. I told them that in high cross winds i hear a loud howling/whistling noise. Naturally they said theyll look into it. I was reluctant since it would be hard to replicate the symtpon without strong winds.

So i get a call from the service advisor. He tells me my oil change was done, blah blah blah. I ask him about the LCA and he said they drove the car and didnt hear the howling. So i wait for them to say "tough shit". Instead they said they submit the case to toyota and they were advised by toyota that yes this is an issue. Because of that, they will be ordering the plugs for free and fixing the issue. I was suprised that it was that easy and there was virtually no push back.

Im waiting for them to get the plugs in, they have it on order and will call me once theyre in. So i dont have full resolution.......yet. but it seems promising so far.

So for those in AZ with a 3rd gen, go to earnhardt toyota in mesa and get them to fix the issue for you. Figured i would share to help out a fellow member. Let me know if theres any issues, ill give you the service reference number or something so you can use that as proof.

had both tsb's done at 5000 mile service. took copies of both. for plugs and tranny update. no questions asked. they just did the work like all dealers should do.. i did not have the howling noise, but since there was a tsb i am entitled to it,

X2. Mine even visually checked trans fluid upon my request. It's all about finding a good dealership with a hood service department.

Mine came from the Factory with the Lower A Arms plugged, they are obviously well aware of the issue.

I ran a bead of silicone around all of the LCA holes. Problem solved for zero costs since I already had the silicone. This is a superior method vs plugs IMO.

Hopefully you left a few unplugged to allow it to drain. I believe the TSB only calls for plugging 3 of the LCA holes.

I didn't cover any portion of the hole. All that's needed to fix the problem is to remove the flat, even surface that the air is going across.
